Just ordered my first saber with sound, The Bane. My actual first saber was a US grab bag, and while I didn't expect much from a grab bag, I was disappointed with how plain it was. This I have been drooling over for months and finally pulled the trigger on. I got the all silver finish, with the blood orange blade. Got that partly because it's the only one noones seen so far, except in the renders.

My Bane came today! I've got video processing now on my phone, so once it uploads and processes I'll be sharing the youtube video.

Couple quick points... lol

V4 Is the Infinity Edge, noticed you had a bit of a question on that one. It's technically "Infinity Edge Blade V4". :)

The claw is NOT removable. The bolts holding the hilt halves together go through the claw. Take it off, and you wouldn't have a stable hilt.

The things that void your warranty are messing with the internals. Basically if you open the hilt, pull the speaker out and damage the wiring messing with it... that's not covered. Finishes, edges... that's all fine. Anything external that does not affect HOW the saber operates is fine, you can change, does not affect warranty. :)

The FAQ has a little walkthrough for the onboard menu too. ;)

Gorgeous hilt tho! Again with the making me revisit the Bane....

Really? Odd, the people in my sabering group, Saber Legion, who have the bane, said it was...eh, worst case I have to put it back on when I do get it off, I want to De-anodize it if I'm allowed anyway.

The shroud "claws" is 100% removable. The claw along the bottom of the saber itself is not. There may have been some miscommunication on that aspect. :)

Was just told by saberforge that because I have electronics, any way of removing the finish would result in a voided warranty, so going to have to deal with that silver anodized finish for a year

Um... that's not true, unless you were planning on doing something that you would need to take the electronics OUT of the hilt in order to do. What was your question wording to SF? They may have thought you meant to reanodize the hilt (which you would need to take the electronics out to safely do) or some other alterations. Sanding/removing the finish on the saber as it comes does not void the warranty. As I said earlier... anything external that does not affect HOW the saber operates is fine, you can change, does not affect warranty.

I asked them about removing it, they asked how I intended to remove it as standard ways might cause aluminum flecks inside the hilt which would void the warranty, I told them easy off, and they said no chemical removing either

Well. Yeah... easy off is a liquid compound. Putting that on a saber you're really risking damaging the internal components, no matter how careful you are. A little bit around the recharge port and zap, no more saber. I would advise using a dry method, with tape. tape around the switches and ports, etc, then sand off the finish.

Was told sanding it would void it for aluminum flakes, so that's a no go either

Sanding doesn't cause flakes, it causes dust. Hence taping the ports. (ports including pommel vents and making sure your blade plug is in snug, so dust won't get in around it)

I've done this. Dozens of others here and on Facebook have done this. If you don't want to do it, then... by all means, don't. I'm not trying to force you to do it, I'm just saying, altering the finish is one of the most done customizations out there, and as long as you don't impact the functionality of the internals of the saber by doing it, you're fine.

I want to, but they said not to...here let me post the message
"Did you order your Bane with electronics? And how are you planning to remove the finish? Such modification is really affecting the entire length of the hilt, and the removal process may cause bits of the aluminum finish to end up inside the saber and affect the electronics, thereby voiding the warranty. "

If I sand it, it would void the warranty if I have to send it in, at least that is how I read it.

Yeah, if you're careless and don't take any precautions, you can absolutely do that, and end up destroying your saber. Modifying ANYTHING on a saber should not be done unless you are 100% confident in doing it, or the saber is no longer in warranty, or you know how to repair it if you damage it, or... the list goes on.

As a business, they're always going to advise that you don't alter what you have, because that's easiest on them, in the long run. If something happens to the saber, when you modify it, you're going to have to take responsibility for it. That's their way of telling you this. If you are comfortable with altering it, changing it, and are confident that you can do it without damaging the internals, then you're fine. But don't undertake that if you're not. It's pretty simple.

That reminds me, given the bane is formed, and thus made of 2 halves to make a whole, does that mean the button is only in by a pinch setup? Because if that's the case, under that hypothetical situation couldn't I just remove the internals and put them back? it's not like I'd be cutting wires that way.
