TOPIC: Saber Arrived - Some Questions

My Phoenix arrived today. Yay! I'm glad to finally have a saber I call my own, but now I have a few questions.

Is the big retention screw supposed to be the main screw holding in the blade or the small hex screw?

The big retention screen in the red circle isn't long enough to actually do anything. So is it supposed to be decorative? The small hex screw in the green circle is what seems to hold the blade plug and/or blade in place.



My saber also arrived with a small ding at the top. Is it normal to have small imperfections?

The red circle is the ding. The yellow circle shows an area that's flattened out at the top. All the other edges around the top are somewhat sharp, so I found it odd that this area is flattened when the other side isn't.



Lastly, is there supposed to be a packing slip saying which LED was used? I opted for the 12W+ upgrade after I placed my order, so I just want to make sure the right one was installed. Since I don't have any other sabers to really compare mine to, I was hoping there'd be a packing slip so I'd know for sure what was installed.

Small hex screw should be used to retain blade. The big one keeps the shroud in place so i would suggest not adjusting it.

Small imperfections are typical, my phoenix has some bits around the top of the shroud that aren't perfectly uniform. From my phone it looks minor.

Can you take a pic w/the blade on? If it's hard to look at on and base flare is minimum then it's a 12w+. They're pretty good about customization requests so you should be gold.

I'm very happy with this saber so far. The construction quality really is very good across the board minus the slight imperfections on the top of the shroud. This was my first, but won't be my last purchase from SF.

To be honest I wasn't keen on imperfections in the finish at first under my severe scrutiny and the Phoenix is my first owned... but technically second (a story for another time). But you must take into account that yes, even though all the main peices are machined and bought in bulk quantities from a manufacturer (which you still will find imperfections in machine made products). But every saber is assembled and finished by hand. So think of it more as a hand made item so don't be expecting anything devine. Through its days in your possession it will be dropped. Dragged across table tops as you pick it up and put it down. Hit during a duel. So it will find its character in the days to come and even more so if you choose to take further steps customizing it. I love my Phoenix and when I'm home it's usually in sight range if not in grasp range. Steps are going to be taken very soon to customize it and then it will receive a new title. I hope you enjoy your purchase I look forward to receiving my 2nd.... and 3rd...

I'm curious to know which 12w + you scooped?
I have a 12w+ amber module on the way. Will be here on monday or tuesday. I look forward to see how that looks in the Phoenix

Color me curious as well.

Just took some pics now that I'm home. I got mine in deep blue. I've very pleased with this combo. Although I think I need an indigo saber and a green saber in mine life down the road.

Probably from the FAQ. That's what they said they were going to be upon release. At least I think I put it in the FAQ. I need to sleep. Sleep is good...

Ha. I haven't been sleeping.. insomnia is a terrible thing that is very very real. I'm son tired I'm entering the hyper delirious stage lol

At first when I inquired about which colours were available Amber was not yet ready and that was around the beginning of July. Then around the 17th of July or so I inquired again and they told me the finally had amber but only a small batch was available for pre-sale, so I jumped on one.

I don't think they come with quick connects by default. The only things that come with them automatically are thr ASP kits... I'll have to get Darth Mario to confirm whether or not they do, tho.

Wish I was home and not away for work. As per the tracking number my 12w+ Amber module was delivered the other day. Looks like you all and I will have to wait until late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning to see it. I'll post pics quickly.
