Hey everyone,

I'd like to order the consular but wondered about the balance of the blade with the 37 and 32 inch blades. As the hilt is a bit shorter, I would think that the 37" blade would be blade heavy but is this so?

Many thanks for the answers ;)

Definitely heavy with a 37" blade, to the tune of a good 8" forward of your handhold. I don't own a 32", but the 26" feels really light. I suspect the 32" would feel pretty good. I've recently swapped out the pommel on my Consular for the SF extended staff coupler. It brings the balance back a bit, and gives a little extra hand space.
May the Force serve you well.

How long is the consular with that extension?

Hilt is 9.8", coupler is roughly 2" so 11.8" total.

Interesting. Are you using that with the 37" blade?

Close! Without the blade plug in place, it's exactly 12.75". The extended coupler protrudes 3.5" out the end of the saber, which is 9.25" without the pommel.

Adding an FF coupler and hefty pommel would probably be a perfect addition for spinning tosses and throws, though it would probably start looking a little ridiculous :P

I am. The shorter blades are so much faster but there's just something about the heft of the 37". It feels "right".

The extended coupler protrudes 3.5" out the end of the saber
How do you order this? I didn't see it as an option on etsy or the website. Also, could you post a picture? I'm super curious as to what it looks like.

It used to be up there. I know those accessory type pieces come and go from Etsy, based on their stock. Staff extensions were unavailable for what seemed like forever...

Many thanks for all those answers ;)

Ribber, would you also have an image of the consular with the extender by any chance?

I already ordered the consular with the 32" blade so I'll be able to test it once it arrives.

It's a wonderful hilt. I'm sure you'll love its sleekness.

Here's a pic with the extender. Looks a little wonky, but it spins nicely and suits my needs until a larger hilt arrives.

How are the edges on the consular? Does it need to be sanded down a bit? I've been looking for a good practice warrior blade that's balanced but also feels comfortable in the hands. This design looks the smoothest of the apprentice list.

I've had a Disciple, Acolyte, Consular, and Arbiter... they're all pretty smooth. The Consular and Arbiter's windows have the best chances of being a little sharp around the very edges of all four. The Disciple is extremely smooth and comfortable, but the points are rather sharp on the emitter. However, if you're hitting anythign with them you're doing something wrong. ;)

I would honestly suggest trying out the Arbiter, however. The v2 is AMAZINGLY well balanced and perfect for one and two handed use.

I've heard great things about the Arbiter V2. Saw someone post pics on FB. I haven't seen it on Etsy yet. So I assume it's not fully available. Something to keep in mind.

They just haven't updated the pics on Etsy yet. ALL Arbiters going out now are V2s.

Edit: if the pics were purple, that was probably mine you saw, lol

Andro

I can't remember where i saw it, but I thought i saw somewhere here in the forums that the 32 in blade is actually recommended for the shorter hilts. As I am 6'2" I actually ordered the 32 because of my height and long arm reach.
Blades:

1. Consular yellow

Apologies for "necro-posting", but as a noob reading as much as I can... with the question of balance comes a curiosity about weight. Approximately how heavy is your SF weapon as pictured above?

I am trying to figure out how heavy is "just-right" for my little boy's first blade. I am pretty sure that we will need to start with the shortest blade available and take it from there.

Thanks! — Darth Moe

Nonsense! Get him the heaviest and build that Sith(or Jedi, no judging here) hunting muscle early!

Hehehehe... no arguments there, but seriously, knowing the weights (for components and total weight) will go a long way in my figuring out shipping costs for me as well.
