So I just received my first saber from Saberforge i'm really happy with the craftsmanship and the blade is the perfect length for me and my saber setup of one full size and one shoto saber. Unfortunatly I've noticed a issue with the LED were when if first powers up its Red just like I was looking for but I guess as it heats up the light become orange and not just a little orange im not sure if this is something that I should contact customer services about if its a construction issue or what I should do. If I could avoid and RMA I would prefer it since I was going to take this saber to a Con later this September, anyone got any advice?

They don't arrive fully charged, so the first thing you want to do is charge that guy to the max. If that does not resolve it, read through the FAQ for any other diagnostic/troubleshooting tips that can be had there. Usually though, a good full charge will do the trick.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

In the case that it's a Warrior, get better batteries. Duracell and Energizer Max are my personal favorites. They last a really long time.

I'll give that a try and hope one of those steps helps I'll keep you all appraised.

@Darth Intefector its a Champion level Acolyte with the kill key recharge so if it is the battery that would probably require an RMA right?

Ah. I was speaking specifically about Warrior tier. Champion light deficiencies are usually a lack of a full charge.

Why was this topic in Combat Q&A...? It has literally nothing to do with combat.... :S

Anyway. You'll need to send SF an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so they can ask some questions about it, and if necessary, get it sent in for repair asap. Turn around time for RMA work is just a couple of days, so the sooner you get it sent in if it needs to be, the sooner you'll have it back in your hands.

I've noticed the same with my champion bane! It starts off pretty red after a coming off of the charger but about 10 minutes of using it I notice that it gets a bit orange instead of red

My brand new warrior exalted does the same thing!

I'm starting to think they made my saber with four red-orange LEDs instead of four red LEDs because my saber appears more red-orange and than crimson red. Pretty sure they sent me a blood orange saber instead of a red one....

And yes my battery is fully charged so that's not the issue.

I've been looking a bit into it since your recent posts, wagner, and I think I may have an answer. The 12W modules Saberforge produces use 4xCree XB-D LEDs. From the XB-D data sheet, you can see that the LEDs run between 620-630nm in wavelength. For people more sensitive to color changes, a frequency of 650-660nm is thought of as "true red."

It's possible that the frequency of the produced color drops over time as the battery potential drains with use. That's why the sabers appear more orange colored across the runtime of the saber, and why Darth Intefector's recommendation would work as Duracell and Energizer can probably maintain a constant voltage for a longer period of time.

To most people the color difference isn't enough to tell the difference between red and a reddish orange, you guys just kinda won the lottery of color perception I guess :/

Creating a red LED module may be possible with the Photo Red (650nm) Cree XP-E LED's, but there are a few design limitations that would need to be overcome to get a decent one up to snuff with the other 12W fixtures.

This is something that I'm sensitive to and I've noticed it w/the XB-D LEDs. Not a huge deal for me but it struck me as odd the first time I played around with one of my red sabers.

Turns out my saber is blood orange. It has four red- orange LEDs instead of four red. Needless to say I'm pissed and will be sending it back to sb.

Mistakes happen, I'm sure they will fix it. These items are not cheap and I can understand you are upset, if I didn't get what I ordered I would be too. But let's put things in context, there are much bigger issues going on in the world. I see that you have two options 1. Talk to SF and given them a chance to correct it and then move on. Or 2. You can dwell on it and make yourself more miserable. BTW I take it you mean SF when you say sb?

Make sure you get a pic of the shipping receipt so you can get the cost refunded from sf customer service.

Mistakes happen

Yeah... with the holiday rush, the Force Awakens rush and the training of a bunch of new employees, that can only be expected at this point. SF should be able to get everyone back up and running though!

Just handle things courteously, and professionally, and I have no doubt it will be made right.

Yup! They're human too lol. I've worked in a production line during the holidays and it's not always fun. Adding to their plate with rudeness and such doesn't help the morale.
