If you got a 12w or 12w+ LED you should have a smart charger, so simply leave it on the charger until the red light turns green.

So far I've gotten about 5 hrs of life out of my battery and have yet to charge it, so they can last a long time!

As to how often to charge, I couldn't say. I guess it depends on use. If it's like any other rechargable battery it's best to run the battery down before recharging though.

I charge mine to full fresh out of the box and then every couple of days with use or as they lay dormant on the shelf.

As to how often, as often as is needed, honestly. No reason to charge periodically unless you want to. The batteries are pretty high quality, and can last a long while; I've heard people getting 5+ hours of runtime out of them, tho generally, to be safe, it's best to assume around 4 hours of runtime per charge.

Do these have issues with battery drain since there is no kill key?

12W+ Templar V2 here.
So far, I charged it to full charge twice since I got my crossguard early in November. I would turn it on for a few minutes here and there. On thanksgiving, I was swinging it around with my cousins still on the 1st full charge. Last night, the saber was staying in a hum when I ignited it after a few seconds. I would turn it off and there's no off sound. Figured it was time to charge it again and the crossguard saber is back in action.

I imagine that with three discreet LED units going, as opposed to one on a single blade saber, the charge would not last quite as long with a Relic, or Templar.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....
