Has anyone tried using the Vader's Vault Photon Blade in a Saberforge saber? I'm curious if it fits just fine and if anyone has any pictures or experience with this blade. The concept of a reactive saber blade seems really interesting.

My understanding is that as long as the LED is green, or blue, it will work.

I have one for my 12w+ Cyan Phoenix and its amazing.
Blows me away by how bright it is. I also have access to a 12w+ Green and a 12w+ Light Blue. Green did nothing to it. It requires a Blue light to properly charge the photo-electric particles within it. So using a green LED with it makes it pretty much like a day blade... it just becomes more green. The light blue also didn't have the effect of it I was expecting. Brightened up a bit but not even close to what the Cyan is able to produce within it. I'm curious what the Deep Blue or Medium Blue effect would be. But perhaps the particles within it are to the cmyk colour scale as opposed to the rgb which is maybe why my Cyan seems to work so well within it. So ya. I'd suggest getting cyan if you want the photon blade  then just with a switch of the blade you can have either the beauty that is cyan or the electric-lime once you install the photon. But as I said. It's brighter anything I've seen. If you're part of the FB custom sabers group I posted photos some time ago of it. I'll see if I can find you the link. |

I have a Phoenix with a 12W+ Deep Blue that I can test this with. I'm planning to get a Champion Exalted in the next month or two. I was leaning towards getting light blue, but now that I found out about this blade, I'm thinking about getting it in Deep Blue again so I can use it with the Photon Blade when I want a change of color. Need to complete my jedi outfit in time for Episode VII.

Sorry.
It was hard to find on the FB group as its was posted a bit ago and that feed updates so often. I even had side by side comparisons where I moved the blade from a 12+ Light Blue Redeemer, 12w+ Green Prodigal Son and the 12w+ Cyan Phoenix. So the side by side showed all 3 sabers ignited with the v4 blade in them then had 3 pics of moving the photon blade to each saber so you could see the effect each colour had and the cyan blew them away. If you go to saber gallery here in the forum. Look for a feed called The Prestige. There's one photo there of it the photon blade in my custom Phoenix (which I renamed the Prestige) |

Like I said.
I'm completely unsure how it will work with the deep blue so please let me know but the Cyan most definitely works. I have a 32" blade for it. The thickness isn't as much as the v4 so im not sure its quite heavy duel wortht. But that weight reduction in not being so thick brings the bbalance point back to right under the bunny ear as opposed to 1" above the emitter and makes it awesome for spinning. I was so pleased with it I got them to chop one down a bit shorter and ordered a shoto blade. |

I was able to find my thread on that FB group.
So here it is... 12w+ Light Blue Redeemer on the left. 12w+ Green Prodigal Son in the middle. 12w+ Cyan Phoenix on the right. First pic the photon blade is on the Redeemer. Second pic the photon blade is on the Prodigal Son. Third pic the photon blade is on the Phoenix. All sabers at full charge. Pic taken with my cell during daytime. |

If you really really like green, it looks like a good way to get that extra oomph for your saber's brightness. Any idea how they hold up in dueling, or are they more of a show blade?

If you have your SF V4 blade handy to compare it, the photon blade walls are literally half the thickness of the V4. I haven't attempted heavy duelling with it, but I imagine it probably will not be able to handle the impacts. I'd say the reduced wall thickness assists in brightness as well as it doesn't have as much polycarbonate for the light to penetrate.
The green shade is a bit different than regular green. In person the blade itself lights up like a toxic, lime green. Almost like the green on hi-viz reflective ppe gear. |

Well, that has my interest. Too bad I run an amber LED in my own. I don't think that would come through very well.
But if I get another and get it as say blue...yeah, knowing this is out there is very interesting! Nice way to get that extra color and pizazz for a costume. |

I was informed by VV that they are currently trying to develop different films that can be used with other colours also. So we'll just have to see what happens.

MAN I wish I could grab one of those for my PS! I have standard green, so until they have something that can react with that... no can do. That Cyan reaction tho...!

This is probably the best I could do with my cell. I layed the saber down in the shade next to direct incoming sunlight from a large sliding glass door to try and capture the true colour.
