Where did you find some of these other pics?
Some are older models which have been put away in what they call the design vault and have released updated versions of said designs. A couple appear like one-offs as h2soy mentioned. |

Alright historical records like what was it's availability. One off as forum giveaways? Possible ASP parts@
It's listed on the first page of the "Upcoming SaberForge Releases" as being planned to be released this Fall so it's none of those things.All these pics are of one-offs/proof of concepts/machining experiments from several years ago. Not much to read into I'm afraid. |

I'd have to agree on the concepts and experiments part.
You can only envision so much of a design through a render. It's essentially a 3 dimensional art work, much like a sculpture. So often you will need to build it to see if it's truly aesthetic in both look and feel (in a physical and non-physical sense) and they not only have look good but be functional as well. |
