Just got my 12w red exalted.
Did not come with a retention screw which is pretty lame.
The color looks more orange than red which I figure is due to low battery.
My battery has been on the charger for about 12 hours now and the light still hasn't turned green. Is this normal. How long should the first charge take?

Congrats on the saber. The Exalted is high on my most wanted list.

Although the charge times can vary, 12 hours seems a bit extensive. I had a charge time of roughly 4 to 6 hours for all of my sabers initial charge. Maybe Knytiri can help troubleshoot with you.

Congrats on the saber!

Double check to make sure the charger is all the way into the port, it should be flush with the hilt. It is also possible that the LED on the charger is broken. 12 hours does seem a bit long but I've had a saber on the charger for 10 hours.

Thanks for the feedback. The charge eventually turned green and the saber is good to go. Although the coloring still seems a bit off. Its a red exalted but the red doesn't look like very deep red, although I wouldn't say it is orange either.

I don't have a way of really capturing the color on camera. But it's not really the red seen in the movies. It looks really awesome but it's just not that deep color red you see on sith lightsabers. I'd say its a red with a tiny splash of orange. It's almost like its such a bright red that it comes off as having a hint of orange.

Here is an idea to check the color.

With the blade plug out, and no blade inserted, shine the LED towards a white wall (if you can find one). What you should see is nothing but red, because a red saber should use 4 red LEDs. If, somehow, you mistakenly got a blood-orange LED, you would see that one or more of the LEDs are not shining in the red color. Take, for instance mine, being Arctic Blue. I know that there are a mix of blue and green LEDs to create that shade, and I can see blue, and green when I shine it on the wall. The only colors that use all 4 of the same color LEDs are Red, Green, Dark or Royal Blue, and Amber. Everything else is a combination of those color LEDs used to create other colors, or varying shades.

If that is the case, e-mail them at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to alert them to the problem, and they will let you know what can be done to fix the issue. If there was a mix-up in the LED, and you got quick connects, they can just send you a replacement. If not, then you would likely have to send it in for replacement, but they will let you know. Test it, and let them know what you find. You might inquire about the charging as well. Could be a faulty charger, or battery. It is not unprecedented.

I shined the led directly on the wall and it's all one uniform color. There is no conflict of colors. But the one uniform color isn't quite red. I guess that means battery issue.

Could still be a battery not fully charged, a charger that is not capable of charging the battery, or a battery that won't take a full charge. For those of us with multiple sabers, we have extra chargers, so if we suspect that is the issue, we have "known" good ones with which to prove it.

In your case, without that benefit, it might still be wise to contact them to see what can be done. My guess is that they would try to replace the charger first, as that is the option that is the least invasive to the saber itself, and requires nothing more on your part. Then if that does not take care of it, move on to other potential solutions, which will likely require the saber to be shipped to them for repair.

Since Knytiri (Josh) is the SF Customer Service Rep, you will almost certainly be communicating with him when you e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , and I guarantee he will get you squared away. If shipping it back becomes necessary, rest assured that their turn-around on repairs is very fast.

The color of my saber is the same red you'd see on car brake lights if that paints a picture.

Hey! Don't worry about charge times! I've had a saber charge for TWENTY SIX hours before. All consecutive charges were less than 10 but that initial charge...

Also- the red blade is somewhat orange-y in blade itself (though still red). You COULD have gotten a Blood Orange LED by accident but I doubt that!

Wait for the full charge. I know it takes forever at times!

If you have a 37 inch blade it can make it look lighter

What color dies are used to make Blood orange? 2 red and 2 amber? Bc i can look down the inside of the emitter and I can actually see the four red colored dies. So I don't think I got blood orange.

But what you said about the red blade in itself being somewhat orange-y in nature may be what I'm experiencing

Here is what the LED looks like without the blade. The camera didnt' capture it well bc the orange you see in the pic isn't there in real life. Although with the blade in it sorta looks orange.
