I apologize if this has been asked before, but my saber sounds like there is something loose inside. I have an Exhalted if that helps any bit. I already sent Saberforge an email but I was wondering if anyone here has had this happen in their hilts.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks! :)

What class? It might be the battery jiggling around

Do you have any idea of what the rattle might be coming from? If it seems like an electrical part is not attached when it should, maybe you could cut up thin sheets of foam and put it in the saber to keep it from rattling, assuming this wouldn't void any warranty on the saber. Im sure it would be a bummer to have to send it right back if there is a home remedy that could help fix it.

Could be *anything.* "Rattling" is usually a loose component, "thunking" is usually a battery. I'd wait to hear back before doing anything.

Ehhhhhhh... That would void the warranty and the foam could melt depending on where it rests in the hilt.

If it was the same issue as that I had in my prodigal son. I unthreaded the upper half where the LED is located as that's what I determined was rattling in my hilt. I was able to stick my finger up and found a little back and forth play between the outer walls of the LED module and the inner walls of the hilt bore. I removed the snap ring and led and installed a small diameter o-ring to remove the small gap. I also find the snap ring which assists to seat the module in place does not actually have a shelf or groove to sit in, so you may have to occasionally push the snap ring further towards the emitter end. Once I did this I had no more rattle.

Oh man that sucks after hearing about this and a saber that died after only a day here in the forums I hope mine are OK when the head out. Sadly the numbers game can't be escaped, due to the increase in business, even if SF had a rate of 99.9% perfection that would mean 15 issues every ten days (given shipping out 150 a day), It has to suck sending back a long awaited saber ( if it comes to that) but take comfort in the fact that I have heard that SF has made such corrections, if needed, a priority and they offer a very rapid turn around (less than a week in many cases I have read about).

I have heard too that SF is good about turning stuff like this around quickly as well. Probably good to let them work their magic then.

How hard did you have to force the threading in order for it to give? I've given it a good twist at every joint I can see and nothing seems to be budging on my Prodigal Son. Just got the saber yesterday and this is the only issue I've encountered, which is fine by me but I'd just love to get rid of the annoying rattling!

I got mine to unthread where the ringed grenade grip section joins to the body where the switch is located. Mine had no loctite on the threads, which yours might have.

Darn, I think you're right. Mine is completely tight at every joint. I'm waiting on a response back from SF first before I do anything to muck it up. It's still functioning perfectly, which I'm super grateful for. I just don't want to be dueling to heavily with it while the LED is free to bounce around, in case it ends up causing more damage.

The saber seems to be working fine even with the rattling. I think the issue is located in the upper grenade section of the hilt. Pretty sure it's the snap ring or the LED. The threads on my hilt is not moving so yeah I think I'll have to send it in.

Hi Dr. Anthropologist,

I can't believe this has happened to you after your wait and tracking issues, :(

I really hope you can get a fix for it soon.

Kind regards

Reached out to an SF Rep through Etsy and was asked to send my PS hilt (just arrived yesterday) back to be RMA'd for this same issue. I think I might bear the rattling for a little while longer at least until one of my other sabers arrives so I'm not completely without SF. :)

Ive had my prodigal son for about a year and a half. Its always had a little bit of that LED rattle/wiggle, but its never caused me any kind of issue, and Ive beaten the holy hell out of that saber. Still works just as well as the day I got it.
