Hey guys I read the FAQs fully but i'm still confused on the lead time.

Main site says lead time is 6-8 weeks
Etsy says lead time is 8-10 weeks

Every post I see says that etsy is considerably faster. So is this main site not updated ? Or are these the correct current lead times? This is the single obstacle left between me and "purchase" so a good answer on this would be greatly appreciated. I just want to order the fastest option but seeing the main site being that much faster despite what everyone suggests makes me suspect that it just hasn't been updated recently and is actually quite longer than 6-8 weeks.

Any help is greatly appreciated so I can lock in my order on one of the two sites. Thanks guys!

From what I've been seeing is that the main site has a substantially longer wait time than etsy. Etsy seems to be about 2-3 months while the main site can run 3-4 months. Of course this probably varies some depending on what you order and if the parts are readily available.

The holidays, TFA, and the ASP launch have severely affected wait times on both the website and etsy. All we on the forum can do is regurgitate anecdotal information about wait times which isn't necessarily accurate. Typically Knytiri, the forum admin who does customer service for SF, will step in and set us all straight so the best thing to do is wait until the SF staff gets back tomorrow and see if he addresses the question. All I can do is point towards the FAQ as that's the most recent official wait time update we've had.

Oh I see, the staff will be back during the week? Hopefully someone from the staff or the moderator can get an up to date estimate on this. It just seems so odd that the main site would be FASTER than etsy despite what everyone always says... I really just want a confirmation before I order. Thanks guys.

Between the two, Etsy will always be the shorter lead time of the two. It also offers less options than the main site, so there are trade offs.

However, they have stated that one of their immediate goals since expanding their facilities, and adding additional smiths, is to reduce lead times significantly. They have not given a time line for when the expanded facilities will begin making a difference, but I would expect that once the smiths are adequately trained, and working on their own, it will begin to happen. There are also updates to the website coming which will be more reflective of current happenings in the company.

Have faith folks! Good things are coming in 2016!

Actually right now the main site is indeed a shorter lead time. However, this will be short lived. The lead time for the main site is now down to 6-8 weeks for all orders now. Some are even going out even sooner.

Etsy is still backlogged and the issues were currently facing aren't helping us cut those times down, however, they will be within the next few weeks.
Last Edit: 6 months 3 weeks ago by Knytiri.

Thank you so much knytiri!

Well that pretty much leads me to want to buy from the site...

I guess the site will be the quickest with 6-8 weeks lead time. If I were to wait a few weeks to see if Etsy clears up some...it could end up taking just as long as if I had ordered from the site today...

Man its hard wanting something SO badly and wanting to make sure you get it as fast as possible!!

Well I guess now i'm just gonna decide between the Epoch champion dual tone with cyan blade or the Consular with all the same.

There is an entire thread devoted to exactly that process entitled "The Wait Begins...". There you will see hundreds of posts that discuss the jubilation at beginning of the process at order time, to the despair once they get a few weeks in, to the utter desperation for any scrap of knowledge after 8-10 weeks, and finally wanting as much clarification as can be obtained on exactly when their saber might actually hit their doorstep. Just know that that last mile is, at once, both exhilarating and exquisitely painful!

The common theme that the higher percentage of them end with is the feeling that the wait was more than worthwhile. Take a look at the thread, and see if that estimation is accurate. B)

Hey guys im making my order now and just have one more question. Im getting the epoch champion edition with cyan blade color and the quick connects option. If I want to also be able to have a purple blade... do I just need to order a separate 12w led unit in purple with quick connect option for 40 bucks? Or is there more to it for switching your color?

Thanks for any help guys, final step before buying!

Yup, that's right. You only need an additional LED w/QC in order to switch your color.

Sweet I ordered my Epoch champion with a cyan blade and an extra Indigo LED unit. Now the wait begins!

But the confirmation email tells me this:

"Thank you so much for your order and for your patience. As indicated on our website FAQ, we currently have a 12-14 week lead time on all our saber orders."

What the heck!! Thats not what the site's FAQ says! It says 6-8 weeks! If I had known it would be that long I'd have ordered through Etsy and taken the 8-10 week wait! See this is why I asked specifically if the site was wrong and hadn't been updated....I couldn't understand how it could be faster than Etsy despite what everyone attests....turns out it isn't.

Darn it now I don't know what to do!

As I literally just said, the site RECENTLY dropped to 6-8 weeks. Last week was Christmas, bro. We took a couple days off. Automatic emails have not been updated. Site FAQ ALWAYS trumps confirmation emails.

Phew thats a relief then. Thats pretty much exactly why I was confused. I figured Christmas time was surely affecting updates. But theres no real way to know it would affect the email updates yet not the site updates. Hearing that site FAQ always trumps email confirmation is great news in this specific case for me but honestly...that seems like some backwards logic! Maybe you can see where I was unpleasantly surprised?

Anyway, good news. Now the wait begins. I woke up today and checked my order status. Man what a futile gesture.

Thank you everyone for your help and info!

If you have kept up at all with the issues and posts I've been making, there are about 130 orders lost and/or stolen by the USPS that we know of currently. There's no shipping updates, no origin scans, some orders are showing up weeks late, others without tracking ever updating even once, etc etc. Your order is not the normal case whatsoever.

Also, you'll notice I said "for all new orders being placed now".

Lastly, per forum rules, this is NOT the place to post inquiries on your specific order. Send us an email.

I recall you mentioning a switch to FedEx. Will this go into effect before the ASP orders go out?

Again. Not the place.

I really don't mean to beat a dead horse, I am just genuinely trying to understand. Because in one post you said

-"Actually right now the main site is indeed a shorter lead time. However, this will be short lived. The lead time for the main site is now down to 6-8 weeks for all orders now. Some are even going out even sooner."

but then you also said

-"Also, you'll notice I said "for all new orders being placed now".

So I guess I am hoping for the final confirmation to end all confirmations. Does the NEW 6-8 week lead time effect ALL orders, as in if I placed an order 6 weeks ago, I should be close to the top of the queue. OR do you mean that all NEW orders placed today will have a 6-8 week lead time but orders placed prior to the drop in lead time still have to wait their full 14-16 weeks (we are talking MAIN site here).

I hope you can clear that up. Thanks!

Hey guys! The lead time for the main site is currently 6-8 weeks. For our Etsy shop it's 8-10 weeks. I hope this helps! B)

Sorry for the confusion, the current lead time applies to new orders placed. If your order was placed 6 weeks ago, the lead time was longer so your order falls into the longer lead time. Thank you for your patience, all good things come in time! May the Forge be with you!!
