First of all happy new year to everyone :)

Second of all, I'm just wondering if I could get some opinions/help from you guys.

I received my new DT Reborn hilt a few days before Christmas but kept it til Christmas day to open it.

That morning I opened it up and it was every bit as amazing as it looks in photos, I'm so happy with it ... BUT .. unfortunately, one of the spines is a little bit loose (I guess?) , and every time it's touched it hits off the hilt and makes a clinking noise. I don't duel (yet) so it's not a huge deal, but it makes me a little bit afraid to mess around with it, in case it breaks or something.

I've emailed SF directly about this and a woman called Melissa got back to me asking to send it back in with an RMA, but since it's only a little problem, and I live in Dublin, Ireland there's no way I can afford/justify the shipping over and back to fix it.

I've emailed back about this earlier, asking if they can just send me a replacement spine and am just awaiting a response, I just thought I'd put it to you guys/girls and see if any of you ever had the same problem or could suggest something that would fix it to save me the hassle of having to send it back

:)

If you take a look at some of the Reborn reviews you'll see that almost every one of them mentions that the lower portion of the spines don't completely make contact with the body of the hilt. My Reborn has the same thing. I suspect it's a design thing and not a defect since it's so endemic.

Closer pic?

I already did, I even moved the spines to different positions in case it was a minor tolerance error but it didn't change

Yeah I don't really have a problem with the lower of the spine not necessarily being flush with the hilt, that's not the issue, the spine that I'm saying is loose actually sits nicely against the hilt when pressed down. it just, for some reason raises a bit which makes it hit off the hilt every time it's Touched. If that makes sense?

The picture I put up was just me showing off my saber, not the problem, I should've stayed that before ha :)
I made a quick video of the problem but I don't know how to post it here

What h2soy said. It's a design thing, they have to have that little bit if flex and give so they don't snap when the hilt is jarred during a duel.

That makes sense I guess but it is only one spine that is that way, the other two sit a bit tighter. I wouldn't even mind so much if it didn't make the noise, it's a bit unsettling.

Yep, it's only one, on all hilts. It's the design.

So one spine on all hilts is extra loose? That doesn't make sense to me at all.
It made sense when you said they all have to have a little flex so that they don't just snap if the saber is jarred, but it doesn't make sense to me that one would be designed to be extra loose, causing a noise. If anything, I'd think, because it's raised it'd be more succeptible to damage. If that's the case why aren't all three given the same amount of flex?
I'm 100% convinced that a new spine would sit much better in it.

I don't really think you understand what I'm trying to explain Knytiri, which is probably down to my terrible explanation skills.
is there any way I could send you a video to show you exactly what the problem is?
