''Loyal SaberForge customers we need your help. A competitor or someone with a vested interest in hurting SaberForge created a yelp page with a false review and links to a counter marketing video. After contacting Yelp we were able to have the video links removed. Help us push that dishonest review down to obscurity with a wave of positive vibes. Please take a moment to write a review of your experience with our company, it would mean a lot to everyone here at SaberForge.
Thank you, and may the Forge be with you all.

I've seen some bad reviews of the company (we too gave some not long ago about the customer service through email) but this is from another world! How could people invent such nonsense! It's disgusting!

Please, join your fellow Sith Lord by giving your honest feedback about your experience with Saberforge, and together, we shall conquer... The internet?

Just because we like saber forge doesn't mean we should be getting rid of their bad reviews for them. I've read a few and they have honest complaints. It's up to saber forge to resolve them.

I am still waiting for my saber at week 10 now, still no updates. I will do a product review when I get my saber. This is my first ever SF purchase and my communication with SF folks have been unsatisfactory because of lack of updates and the manner the replies are being done. Anyway, this is my own experience so I will be honest about it.

The only gripe I have is the lead time. It is not the lead time itself but the fact that it is not posted anywhere on the page. They generally do not even get to your saber until 8-10 weeks out so people in this day and age that see a mass produced item are assuming that said mass produced item would be available to them quicker.

Again the lead time is understandable, they are all being put together and that takes time... Its just the lack of advertising of said time that is annoying. Hence the reason why I only shop on the Etsy store.

I personally don't understand how anyone can spend that kind of money without first reading the FAQ. That's literally the first page on their website I went to last year when I was investigating SaberForge, where I clearly saw the 8-10 week lead time. And in November when I wanted to order my first saber from Parks Sabers I also looked up how long it would take (10-12 weeks) before I even started looking at their product line.

If the 8-10 week lead time was only posted here on the forum, for example, I would be upset. But when it's listed on the FAQ page, then I don't think any customer has the right to complain about the lead time not being posted prominently. To me, the FAQ page is the place for this kind of information, and if people don't read the frequently asked questions, then that's their own problem.

I'm sorry if I sound harsh or unreasonable, maybe I'm just in a bad mood right now because I'm hungry and want pizza… :P

Honest? How could "being banned from saberforge because you cancel your first order" be honest? This is not about giving realistic reviews, this is about writing bullshit to hurt competitiors/a company that you dislike! I mean. YES, there are bad sides to Saberforge, we all see it! I was not asking of you to go and give them a 5/5 because OH YEAH WHY NOT? I asked of you to go write HONEST reviews with TRUE opinions, not some bullshit coming out from outer space! If you wanna give them a 2/5, fine! But take the time to explain WHY and be realistic! No need to create such nonsense in order to make up your point!

Reviews are not only used as publicity (HEY LOOK, SF HAS A 5/5 OVERALL REVIEW, OH MA GAADD), they're also used as a way to manifest your opinion and give it a chance to reach the company! They're trying to do better guys, and they need feedbacks! I know a lot of things are not going as they would like to right now!

Oh I get it Darth Mario, I have been using the internet since AOL dial up and reading a FAQ is basically the first thing I do with any thing. Unfortunately that is not the most common thing people do when buying online.

I mean this with constructive criticism, that placing the lead time or at least a link to the FAQ at checkout, I think would reduce a lot of the complaints of "I have emailed them and asked them a status update a dozen times in the last 8 weeks..." type complaints... Who am I kidding they will always complain.

I know it says 8-10 week LEAD time means they are not even looking at your order for 8-10 weeks means in general it will be at least 8-10 weeks before they put LED in hand ...

I almost purchased off their site then I read the FAQ, I needed the saber within a month so I got it off their Etsy store and I could not have been happier.

Hey, guys. As a brand new member and first time buyer I hope that voicing my opinion here doesn't earn me too much scorn, but keep in mind being such means my opinion should be timely and unbiased, so here goes...

One thing I noticed when looking at the SaberForge site was that very little information was given in regards to the product, especially in regards to the higher end models. Couple that with a lack of customer reviews and it all begins to feel like a bit of a gamble.
Now this may be attributed to the fact I'm a mere fledgeling to the scene. But these information gaps led me to pursue other forms of investigation. And this inevitably led me to discovering both negative and positive reviews. Most were overwhelmingly positive (a video by DarthMario95 involving a metal chair ultimately sold me on the whole idea) yet some were concerning (videos showing sabers with loose inner mechanics, sub-par postage and handling, cosmetic weathering effects wearing off, handle wraps coming loose...).

If the website offered a little more information regarding product details and some customer reviews I never would have encountered any of those negative reviews. In fact it would have saved me an entire days worth of research.

In the end it kind of feels like a lot of the customer service, FAQ's, and marketing is being left up to you, the customer. As I said earlier, without customer feedback from the likes of DarthMario95 (thanks for that btw) I'd really have little to no idea what I was investing in.

Hope this feedback is seen as constructive as it was intended.

Thanks

Honestly I bought my Exhalted because of DarthMario95's video comparing the 3 thin necked sabers. Its a simple and yet effective video, and free marketing for SF. User reviews are proven to be very effective marketing tools. So one feedback to the fans here, do more video reviews, whether its long or short. I have bought 5 US sabers because of so many reviews done in Youtube that I can get a second or third or forth opinion on a particular hilt. So far I do not have any issues with my US sabers and they work well. US do have a yearly Youtube review program where customers are rewarded credits/points for each of their review posted. I believe SF can definitely do better.

I feel like anytime you decide to buy a product, whether it's in person or online, a small purchase or an expensive one, there are going to be conflicting reviews. I've been buying a lot of stuff on amazon over the years, and before I buy I always check out the user reviews for the product. I also always actively seek out the positive reviews and the negative reviews, and then make a decision based on what I've read.

I think SaberForge is the first to admit that they could make improvements, I mean their motto is "perfecting the art of the saber." I've known Phil for a year now and watched him make adjustments to various aspects of his business, from customer service to website wording, from saber designs to color options. Every time I speak to him he tells me about some new change he's making to his products or his website to make customers happy, because many times the changes are based on customer feedback. I know that he values customer feedback, especially when it is offered respectfully and in a non aggressive manner. I think that's true of everyone though, right? We'd all prefer to receive constructive criticism in an encouraging manner.

If I think back 6 years to when SaberForge first started out as a company, and compare that to where they are now, I'm amazed. I'm sure that with this community's assistance, SaberForge will continue to grow and evolve for the better into the future. So thank you to everyone for the helpful comments!

And on a personal note, you guys are sweet :) I love making the video reviews and I'm so glad some of you find them useful ^_^ I've ordered some new sabers from SaberForge and will be doing more reviews soon.

As a previous forumite had said I think a bit more information would be a good thing.

Info that is nice to have

Hilt length
Hilt width at its widest part
Compatibility with others as a staff
Option to add coupler to each for staff
Additional accessory compatibility (venom / viper blades etc.) I think this is already there

Also the covertech system is confusing - as most sabers come pre installed with a covertech - maybe re wording the covertech system to Covertech Clip Holster

Options - Quick Disconnects (maybe additional drop down cost)
Weathering Options
Wrap Options

Of course with all the options on a drop down with additional customization costs.

I and others have said this before. Since they offer the quick connect upgrade option for free, I don't think they will ever make it a visible option, at least nowhere in the near future. If they did, everyone would add it, even if they'll never end up using it. It would just be extra work for the saber smiths.

And I like having something on my saber that's not very well known, an insider option if you will.

I agree with Kresnik in that I think that SF could do a better job on some basic hilt technical information
Length,
Grip diameter,
Staff options
Wraps (where applicable)
Restrictions (for example, no quick disconnect options on thin necks)
Clarification of weathering options, what Colors and what percentage of covering is there. light, medium, heavy weathering. Gray, brown/rust, black options would be nice.

Until that gets updatef, and hopefully some will be incorporated into the new saber lisings on the site, I think it is up to us as customers and supporters of SF to provide the information in the form of honest reviews, pictures where possible, and encouragement and respect of each other.

I would propose that a series of threads be added under a category of reviews, one thread for each hilt (with possible sub groups for warrior/champion/hero level hilts), to provide the basic technical information to each other and potential customers. As well as honest thoughtful reviews.

I can honestly say that I picked saber forge for my light saber purchase based upon the reviews and discussions on the forum as well as the reviews and product videos on you tube.

To get something like this is going to require that we clone DarthMario95 into version 96, 97, 98, and possibly 99. Or that some additional people with the time and talent step up to assist. For now if we can keep this support fan driven then Phil and company can work at producing the hilts we all want.

So, my friends, what is our next step?

A section for each hilt with pictures and reviews would be MORE than great, it would be perfect! If you decide to go on with that idea, I'm right behind you, And I'll be carrying with me pictures and informations! This is from far the best idea I've seen on this forum so far, amazing griffon!

We've started the very first step of this project already:

https://saberforgeforum.com/forum/general-store/390-length-of-sf-hilts

Let's discuss a bit further about this idea. Ideally, all this info would be listed on the website for each saber, instead of here on the forums, right? But consider that SF has 29 sabers currently listed on the website. Each saber has a main page and then a page for each of the 4 tiers. That's 29x5=145 pages that would need to be individually updated by Phil and/or the website manager, not to mention 5x more pages for each of the new saber designs coming out this year. So it would be a massive project. Definitely useful to a lot of people and future customers, though. But still a tremendous amount of work, and might not be high on Phil's personal to do list.

So for now maybe the community taking the reigns would be nice. I like the idea of having a separate category along with the Welcome, General Store Q&A, Store News, and Open Topics, and then in that category we have one thread for each of the SF sabers. The first post might contain the basic details about the hilt, like ID/OD, length, etc that Griffon mentioned, and then all subsequent posts would be other people's pics/reviews/questions of that hilt design.

This actually wouldn't be as difficult as DarthMario makes it out to be, at least if you do it efficiently. All you would need is a MySQL database with each saber and their specs (that would take about 10 mins to make) and then a quick PHP script along the lines of this on each page:
$specs = mysqli_query($dbc, $selectQuery);
while($row = mysqli_fetch_array($specss)){
    echo '

DarthMario -

All it would really take is a section in the forum - SABER INFO/ REVIEW

A new Stickied thread for each saber- someone AKA you most likely Mr. DarthMario95 would add the basic specs.

Then people could reply to that topic for their own reviews and or generate a new topic in the review section.

On Saberforge.com store , just put a link to the forum at each saber main page so you do not have to go through a ton of pages. With a link saying "For saber specs and reviews visit saberforgeforum.com and click on the Spec/ Review - "

Or just do only specs...

That way it draws traffic to forum who may not have seen it on the main page and if they are seeking info there it is
It gives the information that can be updated in one stickied thread by a moderator
And provides a one stop shop for information on that saber that can be user generated
