Im just wondering how easily this black coating scratches off. I was seriously thinking of making my Sith saber weathered because I was worried about the black coating coming off.

Thanks

I think you are thinking of powder coating or parkerizing or something. Anodized aluminium is usually dyed to a color. But no, it shouldn't just scratch off. At least none of mine ever have.

Ok, excellent. I was sure about getting a black saber if it easily scratched off.

You can sand it off but it won't come of easy saw someone use a heat gun once to get it off

Black Powder-coating? Anodized weathering? Which Black are you referring to? Neither of them Scratch Off Easily!

The total black finish looks cool for Sith but I was going to get the weathered finish because I was worried about scratches on the black finish.

So, what I was wondering is with the BLACK, does it scratch easy and when it does does the silver color underneath stand out OR if it does would weathered be a better finish choice.

Thanks

and yes I know you could try and touch up the BLACK scratched but I imagine it would not blend that well.

Light surface scratches & blemishes will inevitably happen just through normal handling. Light surface buff n polish will typically remove and restore original glory. Solid black versus weathered will still create a Dark connotation but (whilst both finishes will still yield a tough resistance and durability) the weathered version won't reveal surface scratches directly as they're masked with the weathering. Under "normal" usage and handling it won't scratch off easily either anodised or powder coated. To reveal the base "silver" or raw aluminium you'd have to hack at it quite heavily and intentionally with an edged surface regardless if it's blunt or sharp. Much like you're careful (presumed) with your car/bike/ride, by exercising restraint there's no reason why the new/showroom finish cannot be maintained.

Thank you for the great help with my inquiry. Also, my claws are resin so no problems with scratching there unless its on my ladies back!
