As far as I know, they haven't actually been added yet. Sorry I didn't save a copy of my original thread. Which hilt are you wondering about? Maybe I can help you.

I was wondering about this too. I like the longer hilt sabers for a wide grip.

Heh. I tend to go in the other direction. I prefer short, 1 hand hilts. Although I do have a saber that is about 60" long and about 30" of that is hilt. That's a different ballgame than a regular 2 handed sword, though.

But yeah, in general, I like hilts about as short as I can get em. I built a 6" hilt once but that's a liiiittle bit too short. I made it for a child, not me. I like hilts around the 8-9" range.

Generally (and this may speak to my thin birdlike wrists) I've found that that my speed/power are pretty crappy if my hands are placed close together. If my hands are about five inches apart I can use my top hand as a fulcrum for quick, powerful, and precise movements. Maybe the closest analogy is.... kendo? Whenever I see people swinging their sabers around in wide arcs I roll my eyes a bit at the wasted energy and the wide openings they create in their stance. Meh. To each their own.

I'm really curious to see how the Archon turns out. Its' concept picture seems to indicate it'll have a longer hilt.

I know what you're saying. My 60" saber was built to function like a Nagamaki. But the grip is long enough to spin like some kind of staff/spear hybrid.

Fun to play with.

I am actually looking a little further down the road to the Regal. The design is very compelling to me, and the length looks to be in the 12-13" range. Just right for a split two-hand grip.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....
