Sad news from Facebook:

Query:
So will we also see a Fulcrum Saber? For her new ones. They are curved to act like a fulcrum too

Reply:
We have CAD drawings for them but the response was very lack luster so the design is in our vault for the time being.

Let us all do what we can to get this beauty the attention it deserves. It is by far my most anticipated release and words cannot describe or would do any justice to how disappointed I am from the above comment of it being put on the back burner.

Yeah, the Insurgent/Divergent pair had convinced me not to order the Bane and wait for their release. I really, really want to see these made real.

Guess that means I will be Bane-ward bound.

Just curious, where is the feedback that is being used on decision making for releases coming from? I'd like to know where I should be casting my votes.

Hmm. Perhaps that other pic I tried to upload was too large..

@LuxRazor and h2soy
Not sure where they are receiving their feedback. I'd sure like to know. Maybe we can start our own and try to get these babies made. I'm almost ready to buy 3. A standard finish, weathered finish and battle damage one. Maybe even the Divergent as a 4th.

Facebook primarily I would assume. Posts on announcement threads and the like.

To be honest, I'm not sad about this.. these hilts didn't appeal to me in the least. But, sorry you guys were looking forward to something that didn't come about :(

These do look really cool, sorry its been shelved. I wonder how the curved hilts go for dueling the always look a little unbalanced

What a dissapointment!
I really seek the oval curved hilt to make Nodachi saber like this.

I'm not sure how they are for dueling. I'm not really one that duels regardless. I was more for collecting and playing purposes. I have a collection of Katanas and wanted a couple of these to add to it.

The nodachi are definitely cool. The great sword. Not sure how you would have managed to turn a lightsaber in to one but I would've been interested to see the result! :)

Well my friend. That's how opinions and tastes go. For instance I wouldn't have been sad to see the Destiny get put on the shelf as it didn't appeal to me in the least regardless of what character the hilt is based off. I didn't care that this was Ahsokas. I just loved the Katana style handle of it.
Hopefully I can use my force persuasion and get Phil to proceed with these later this summer as originally slottedm

You see? Yeah it's great Katana to kill Samurai with his horse.
If I got this one, I will apply Tsukamaki wraping and set ripper blade.
But the dream gone away now...

You never know. Maybe the dream is still alive, I won't be giving up yet as this is one I truly want the most.

It's amazing how the great sword had the ability to cut down a samurai and his horse. Widely used by Japanese infantry and also used by the cavalry. So even the samurai on the horse had the nodachi to have the extra reach to be able to kill while on horseback. I think nearly 5' or more overall length the nodachi is?

Out of curiosity Janus. Are you from Japan??

I'm also not sure how this would look with the tsukamaki wrap. It would be interesting to see. But I like the sleek, clean look of it. It's the weapon for a future samurai class :-)

You have deep knowledge about Katana!
Exactly Nodachi(or O-dachi) is difined as 35-60 inchs blade katana.
Mainly used by cavalry, because it is wielded by not only his arm power but also speed and weight just like lance charge.

Tsukamaki wrapping never matches with a circle hilt.
So I'm seeking oval sleek hilt. This is it! ;)

Yeah I'm Japanese crazy for SW especially Lightsabers!

This might be a dumb observation, let me know but wouldn't lighting a curved blade be difficult? It could turn out like Dooku's saber which might i say isn't bad at all :)

Lighting it wouldn't be too difficult. As long as you machine a straight blade socket and a level seating point for the LED there wouldn't be a problem.
I personally am looking at the Count more than any of the other curved sabers. The Bane looks like it has too many sharp edges for me, and the Insurgent would work, but it would be awkward to find a nice place to position my upper hand where it would have something to rest against...and that probably made no sense. It's kind of like how your hand rests against the sword guard or tsuba.

you know i kinda overlooked this hilt at first, but after reading the comments here and giving it a better look its really growing on me. i wish i could see it with a blade in it, because like the other curved hilts, i assume the blade would still be straight unlike the curved blade of the Nodachi, as shown in the example.
without the curve in the actual blade i think the curve of the insurgence would almost look off if you know what i mean. Still a really cool design, hope you guys can get the support for this to have it made!

I don't believe there are any curved saber blades. Dooku's hilt was curved but his blade was still straight :)

Ya, I think I'm picking up what you're putting down.
You'd almost have to go with the regular Katana in the Elite tier for that. This is almost like a Shirasaya if you'd prefer that comparison.

As i've mentioned. I hope I can generate interest. But this is a case where it's merely my personal tastes and styles that causes me to drool over this hilt more than others.

I know what you mean by the curvature of the entire sword no longer being there and making it look off as that's how we've seen a Katana style sword our whole lives. But really, then what is the difference to all other curved hilts? Don't they look just as off? The Bane and the Dooku are curved downward, where this is curved upward, the blades are still straight in those hilts as well.

In terms of a fulcrum and the way one is to properly cut with a Katana. Not only do you push down with your top hand at the end of your cutting stroke but you pull up with you bottom hand. In the Insurgent, this method of cutting/slashing would give you a bit more leverage due to it's design. You get the power from your core but then it's like a flick of the wrists at the end of the slash to complete it.

I hope all that made sense...

It's cool that you're starting to warm up to the design. I used to be a graphic designer, have a full japanese style sleeve tattoo on my left arm of a magician and a dragon and I grew up loving old school samurai/kung fu flicks and have studied martial arts before it became bunched into MMA. This hilt just makes sense to me. Merely a personal connection, which is the reason for my disappointment in seeing it being put on the shelf.
