I know that you can send back an SF saber and have it upgraded afterward (to Warrior/Champion/Hero), but is that covered under the 1-year warranty only? I'm assuming I can send it in for upgrades even after the warranty, is that right?

Yup, all that seems right. The upgrading process should be the same wether the saber is under warranty or not, just if the saber is out of warranty, you just won't get a free one if it breaks.

Great, thank you! I was thinking about getting an Initiate PS from Etsy, but then I noticed all they have there is the Warrior. But that's good to know if I wanted to upgrade that to a Champion later on anyway.

You could likely order a Champion model from the main site, and since the lead time for the main site, and Etsy are now the same, you could get your champion now. There is really no downside these days!
The Etsy store is stocked with pre-configured sabers that just lack the finishing details like LED color, but those must be stocked from the main store's inventory. So, it would make sense that they would still be able to do a champion PS, when Etsy is out of them. Now, if you were looking for a Bane, which has only been available on Etsy, you might have had to go the Initiate route. |

Make sure of what? Any saber can be sent in for an upgrade at any time. You have to pay for that ,of course, but your warranty will get extended for another year from date of upgrade.

Good to know the warranty resets!
Brax, I can't buy from the main website because they don't accept Paypal. Etsy does include LED colour choices, though. There's a dropdown menu on ever saber item entry for it. |

from my recent experience ordering of of both esty and the main site. the option really depend on the saber l ordered and initiate acolyte off the main site and a warrior acolyte off the esty just a matter of how much detail you want
