Hey guys! I'm new at SaberForge, and was wondering if anyone could give me advice on my first order. Nothing too expensive, but really nice, like a warrior-champion apprentice. Please help me!
And any discount codes would be greatly appreciated :cheer: !

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum JediJacob04!

Be sure to drop by the New Member Introduction thread, and tell us a little about yourself! Also, you might want to drop by the Forum Rules, and FAQ to get some good info about things around here.

In answer to your question, that is a very broad topic! If you can give us some information about what you hope for in a saber (size, finish, general appearance, LED color, etc.), we could probably guide you towards something to fit the bill.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

Well, any size will do ( ;) ), I'm not to sure about the weathering or not (leaning towards standard at the moment) and I really like the acoylyte or whatever. The color I am not to sure about, maybe something like green or red.

Acoylyte (Standard, Blade color Red or Green)

By the way, is the 6W good overall, or would I be better off with 12W? Because if it isn't that bad I could save a lot of money.

Thanks again!

Hello JJo4. First saber huh, quite the dilema. We've all been there. Have you seen the new apprentice sabers that are coming out later this month? One called the Oracle you should check out. As for the LED, go with the 12w. Spend a little extra, you won't regret it.

12w is definitely worth it. Also, if you decide to get a warrior tier saber (saber without sound), the 12w will come with a rechargeable battery, while the 6w will only take regular batteries, which the saber will go through pretty quick. Though if you go the champion route (saber with sound) you'll get a rechargeable battery anyway.

I guess the Oracle IS kinda cool, It's just that the Acoylyte really has my eye on it, and with red it would look totally b*****.
Is green a good color though?

Warrior 6W
Warrior 12W ?
Champion 6W :cheer: ?
Champion 12W  ($)

So here is what I understand: Warrior 6W: No, because a) No sound b) Not rechargeable

Warrior 12W: Not sure because a) Save money for no sound but get rechargeable battery.

Champion 6W: Yes, because a) Sound b) rechargeable batteries included for lightsaber.

Champion 12W: No, because to pricy.

Yeah, its a tough, tough choice. If you plan on using it as a dueling saber then save a bit of money and keep the warrior tier but the 12w is worth it. Although I am not positive, I would imagine the standard finish is going to hold up better for heavy use. Black finish is great for Sith blades with red, purple, blood orange, ect.
If its more for show and mock battling then the added sound is sweet (you can still duel with the champion tier). The weathered finish gives it an ancient look. Standard and silver more futuristic, so its all about preference.
The harder question is the actual saber as they have all types. Take your time looking over them all. I hear a lot of people go for the thin necked design similar to Luke and Obi-wan. If you're looking to do a lot of blade tricks I would recommend a simple hilt design for handling. A longer hilt can be used in hand-and-a-half fighting style while a smaller hilt is easier for smaller people and blade tricks, but this is relatively minor.
If you really want to get creative, check out the SF adaptable saber parts design program on the site. As for color: blue, green, and red are of course the standards and never a bad idea for a 1st saber, but you can always find sites on the web that explain what the colors mean or even an online quiz suggesting a color that may fit your style/personality. Just have fun with it and enjoy the process. There are no wrong answers.

I would definitely hold off for just a few more weeks. There were four new sabers just announced through their FB/Twitter and they're all great. Personally I love the Sentinel and Bastion most. If budget is an issue these are fantastic choices!

Also Idk if these sabers are what was meant but there was a post earlier that said the whole lineup was swapping very soon!

Okay! Thank you so much! I found out green is for peace and wisdom, so I decided I wanted it. Acoylyte/Oracle are very nice, don't know which I want! Will definitely take standard finish. Is champion with sound really worth it for 200 or so extra? I live in Canada, so it's about 1.5X the actual price + shipping :(

I am having the exact same dilemma. My better half is on board with me spending a certain amount -which would get me an apprentice saber with sound...or an Elite saber without sound.

I have been drawn to the Epoch or the Gladius sabers consistently. If they were cheaper - I would've already ordered a champion version of those. I do like the look of the Sentinel and the Bastion about to be released - but still undecided.

I personally can't decide if sound is worth it for the whole experience, or if I should go with a hilt I know I'll be 100% satisfied with.

I will say this though, I'm going to go 12W. I want this lightsaber to freakin' shine! I wonder how much an in hilt charger would cost on a warrior edition?

Hello!

From what I have heard, always always always go with sound. It makes the experience that much better.

In hilt recharge comes standard on the warrior tier Bane because the way the hilt is assembled would make accessing a removable battery a hassle, and so it costs $16 more than the other Elite warrior tier sabers. So if I had to guess, adding that to another warrior saber would be at least $16 (part of that probably is due to needing the more expensive charger).

.
While sound (as well as the blade flicker effect the soundboard also controls) really does complete the package, I think getting the hilt you really like is far more important. Sound can always be added on later, either by sending it back in, ordering a champion tier electronics kit when ASP launches, or even installing it yourself with another brand of soundboard. There are a TON of different soundboards designed specifically for lightsabers out there, all with varying amounts of features and price levels.

Though whatever you decide, definitely go with the 12w.

You called?

I based my decision on what I really wanted versus what I could really afford. I am based in the UK so for me I had to take that into account for shipping costs etc if I were to upgrade later. I was fortunate and could afford a Champion Tier Disciple in 12W and I swear I feel like I have a "real" Lightsaber out of a film or another planet.

Honestly though you would not be disappointed with a Warrior, but at the end of the day you have to be happy with your choice and base it on what you can afford and what you really want...this may mean you have to wait and save a bit more money but the wait will be worth it.

Good luck in your Saber journey,

For Tyeth

p.s. I waited over thirty years for my real Saber!

The extra for the 12W is waaaaaay worth it, especially since 12W+ has integrated into SF's new builds!
