schmots, your creativity and ability to think beyond the confines of a box are exceptional! With your creation you're defining with definite affirmation that the pen is mightier than the sword. Great work! A humbling emotive as it's something that I want and know I cannot have.

so, I started trying to print my build of the renegade, it is causing me so much trouble with that amazing shroud. I might be able to print a mini version of it, but my hopes for a full size print of it are fading.

Been playing with miniature sabers. Here is my first attempt at Luke's ANH saber

I modeled this my self at full size as close to movie specs as possible then scaled it down 50%.

Great work my friend! I am most impressed with what a 3D printer can achieve (Though I shouldn't be surprised, I saw a guy on the internet the other day who 3D Printed a car, pieces by pieces).

I WANT TO SEE MOOOORRREEEE!!!! B)

schmots, you may have become the only known resource that translates Previews from Rendered Perspectives to a 3D prototype. Great work on the recreation.
Renegade by name, Renegade by reputation. What else is inside you bag of tricks, Regal?

The Regal seems to have a big following. I don't get it.

All that aside, thank you for the kind words OvrcAHst.

Between Regal and Renegade if I had to favour one, I'd lean towards the Renegade. IMO it's a uniquely designed Hilt that would compliment the aesthetics with Archon stemming from my high fascination of Epoch v2.0. My perception of Regal plays on design uniqueness also. There's something about the aggressive grooves on the emitter and pommel synchronised with streamlined fluidity in between. A design that 'breaks away' from the traditional cylindrical appearance hilts typically assume. There is intricacy to it combined with simplicity much more than plain and ordinary. I like it for those very reasons.

Well because of that I'll take a pass at the regal.

When you write 'pass' does that mean you'll give it a crack or is it the opposite meaning you'll be skipping it? Further to my simpleton appreciation of 3D printing (as I first mentioned and marvelled at early in this Thread) are the Printers themselves and the material used to create the tangible result relative in costs within themselves and to conventional Printers? i.e. unsure how printers in general are over there but here (regardless of inkjet or laser) the Printer will cost say $X with the Ink costing $X multiplied by 3.

Means I will try and model it.

Filament the "ink" is around 23USD for one KG. A saber takes about 2-5 dollars worth of plastic. Time investment is the bigger. The "not renegade" took 9 hours to print. Then fusing the sheath parts together too a few minutes to do and an hour to cure. Then about an hour of sanding. Next I painted it with primer and let that dry for several hours then I used an airbrush to paint the final metal paint colors.

Also, it's not my cup o tea so if I am able to create that saber. I'll let someone else be its owner.

@schmots
Thank you for the clarification. Unsure if it's an expression used differently at opposite sides of the world, when you wrote 'pass', here it's interpreted as non-acceptance/dismiss, but reading your reply didn't completely suggest that. Perhaps the namesake has different meanings like 'thongs' and what they are there to what 'thongs' are here. I dare say Brax will be thrilled as his devotion to 'Not-RenReg' has been known long before I even joined the Forum.

I don't doubt the process being labour intensive. Just your description alone of the very first posting illustrated that for me and more so when I asked about the printing time. All the more reason for my appreciation to your creations, not so much what the Printer and the Filament does but the effort you exhaust into creating and completing the end result. Credit to you Sir. Forgive my ignorance on the matter, does the Filament vary in RRP based on unit volume and colour (say opaque/transparent versus red)? i.e. black ink is ordinarily cheaper than the Cyan, Magenta, Yellow tri-colour cartridges for Inkjets. Can male/female threads be programmed for printing to enable 'screw-together' rather than gluing?
