Greetings, all! Finally trying to review these sabers. Last two times I tried my iPad crashed en route. Let's try it again!
My brother and I got these a few days after Christmas from Ultrasabers (I knew about Saberforge at the time, but since this was a surprise for me, I didn't find out until after he'd ordered). We'd gotten two of US' Apprentice sabers (his is customized to be longer), mine in green and his in blue, two blades, two blade plugs, two Alan wrenches and two Covertech clips.
So, unfortunately there are more cons than pros. First off, we paid extra for the Covertech wheels, the installation of the wheels, the blade plugs, the wrenches and the blades, all things that in my opinion should've been part of the entire "stunt saber" package. Secondly, he actually ordered two 37" blades, but our package came with one 37" and one 32". It's a little bit annoying on a buyer point of view, but from a duelist and spinner perspective I feel like it worked out okay. However, something that is unacceptable is that one of the blade plugs doesn't actually fit into either saber. Again, didn't really matter since my brother prefers his blade in all the time, but still annoying.
Something my brother found particularly annoying was the wheel placement. He had specified both our wheels to be 90 degrees counterclockwise from the activation switch.
As you can see, neither of us got that. A bit nitpicky, but still frustrating.
However, from this point, there isn't that much more wrong with them. Functionally, they work well as duelers. Me and my brother went at it with them, and the blades only received scuff marks. The light is pretty well balanced, and it lights up my room nicely at night. The saber itself is nice and weighty, and my only problem with the internal stuff is that the battery pack does move around for all the extra space inside.
So, are they any good? Well, if you only have $50 and only get money on Christmas and your birthday, then you can snag Ultrasabers' cheapest stunt saber for around that price. If you have the money for something better, then Saberforge is the way to go. These aren't bad, just mediocre. More like a budget saber than anything. Still, they're something, and a good practice tool if you want to get into saber dueling but don't have big bucks.
