Maxjive the thin neck sabers have special blades. On standard blades the inner diffusion wrap is glued very close to the bottom of the blade. On the thin neck blades the diffusion wrap is not glued, and is about half an inch to an inch shorter so that it doesn't scrunch up against the inner ring on the saber emitter.

Ah, thanks. I was wondering because I believe there are some blades out there that have reflectors in the tip to even out illumination in the blade. I was wondering if they'd be compatible with the PS, but sounds dicey. Thought it may make the flare less noticeable.

I don't know if you've used the Hero level RGBA LED in the thin necks, but I was wondering if illumination was even more of an issue due to the lower wattage of the individual colors coupled with the deep LED placement...

I don't have any direct experience with the RGBA hero on thin necks, but yes if the 12w thin necks are generally 10% dimmer than the 12w standard sabers, then the 3w-6w colors formed on a RGBA hero thin neck would definitely not be the brightest thing you've ever seen.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but if memory serves, the Crystal Reveal version of the PS is not meant for combat, though I think the other CR sabers are for some reason.

If true, that should enter into the decision making process.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

Yeah, definitely! I think the springs and guides/rails for the CR are more delicate than the other crystal models.

I, however, will be dueling with my kids, if at all, so I not really factoring than in. I was thinking CR champion PS vs Hero PS (same price point)...thoughts?
