Hey, I'm looking to purchase a saber, but I'm not a big fan of dueling.

I'm looking for a hilt that's easy to use with one hand. I have small hands, so something small and light would be perfect. I want to do mostly spinning and tricks, to impress my friends and cosplay.

Is there a hilt perfect for me? I've heard good things about the Reliant, but I wanted to hear from the rest of you.

Howdy JohnBlack, hope you had a great Christmas.
Sounds like you want something sleek. Any of the apprentice tier sabres would do the job nicely, especially the consular and ( dare I say it For Tyeth ;) ).. the disciple. They're all slightly shorter and thinner than elite or Crystal class.
What height are you by the way? You might want to consider a 32" blade If you're average or shorter, as a full 37" will connect with the floor a bit too often otherwise.
Hope that helps a bit, check back for more members' advice.
welcome to the forum. :)

Hi JohnBlack,

The Apprentice hilts are great sabers, and for the people who are afraid they might not be up to the job, rest assured it will be.
I have just received a Disciple and also have fairly small hands, 8" span and 3.5" across the palm, and the saber feels like it was made to my measurements. I can even get a decent 2 handed grip on it. You can see pics on my preview in the Disciple Review section to get an idea of proportions.
I'm 6 feet tall and with the 32" blade and my arm at rest by my side, the tip clears the floor by 1 to 1.5" so doesn't connect with the floor as my friend xyster has said. As for other sabers to use in spinning try to avoid ones with activation boxes such as the Prodigal Son.

Don't forget to read the FAQ page and announce yourself on the New Members page if you haven't already,

I hope your saber "Calls to you" as did mine and enjoy your time on the forum

For Tyeth

See I told you xyster, There is a waking up, have you felt it? Yes it's a Disciple! (had to paraphrase there, Copyrights etc!)

Hey guys, thanks for the replies!

I'm around average (maybe a little below) in terms of height, about 5'9 to 5'10, so I will definitely check out the shorter blades! Good catch on that.

I'm planning to go all out on my purchase (hero edition, obviously) so I'm doing all the research I can. I wish I could go to the showroom and hold a few myself, but I guess there's excitement in mystery!

I hope I get the same feeling of "this saber chose me" that I keep reading about in every review! With any luck, I'll have saved up enough for opening night of Episode VIII :)

With a hero tier you're going to want to spend time making sure every aspect of it is perfect for you.
Select the images that immediately jump out at you and put them together in a gallery. Eventually you'll settle on one.
Have fun deciding. :cheer:

I'm sure Mr JohnBlack here will make the right choice.
Always in motion... the future.. but I'm sensing a hero tier Descent, 12w+ LB w/ red f.o.c.

right JB? ;)

The Arbiter is generally considered the best apprentice saber for spinning & tricks by several members of the SF staff and most everyone who owns it. To echo what others have said you're going to want to choose a shorter blade, probably the 26" since dueling reach isn't important to you. A slightly heftier saber is the Gladius which is universally appreciated for its dueling and tricking but comes up a bit short in the looks department. Good luck choosing.

I would say any of the Apprentice sabers on this site or a Luke VI and/or Mace MR with a SF conversion kit.
Blades:

1. Consular yellow
