Hey guys!

So I bought myself an Ultrasaber last November, and have really been enjoying it. Me and my two brothers bought one, and we really love them! The electronics are great, and we have been having a lot of fun with the Obsidian V4 soundboards (we may or may not have made a custom fart sound font...)

Anyway! I have been looking into getting a hilt from Saberforge because in all honesty, nearly ALL of them look cooler than mine (US Dominix V3). So, my question; is it possible to fit my Ultrasaber guts into a saber forge hilt?? (the disciple is the one I'm looking at)

Also, as a side not I wanted to know if the SF LED's worked with the US board/battery system.

additional information: My saber has the Obsidian V4 board, with the 2 rechargeable 3.7V Li-Ion battery setup. Also, I have the US Anti vandal momentary switch, which is about 3/4" in diameter.

Any information you could give would be phenomenal! thanks!

On the other hand, If i were to buy a Warrior edition saber, could I find a way to attach my Obsidian board to it??

Honestly, I wish I had just gone with SF in the beginning, but we had to have our sabers before star wars day in december, so it was a bit rushed... I really like the obsidian board, but the hilt is not nearly as good looking as even the cheapest sabers here, and the 12w light is WAAAAAY brighter than the Ultra Saber lights!

I really like the Disciple and the Oracle hilt...

I might just see if I can sell my saber and buy a champion oracle if the DIY idea doesn't work out. I really want to upgrade the light and hilt, but keep my board ;((

Honestly, I'm at a loss. I'll do some searching around this topic for anyone who has attempted this, but documentation is sparse for the Ultrasabers board.
I can tell you that 3/4 inch is closer to 16mm than 12mm, so your switches won't fit.
I can tell you that the internal diameter of SF Apprentice hilts is 1". Elite hilts are a bit bigger. So check if your electronics will fit into a tube with an internal diameter of 1 inch. If they can't, they won't fit into the Disciple or Oracle.
I can also tell you that a properly driven Tri-Cree LED is brighter than the SF 12w+ LEDs, though I don't know by how much. SF LEDs are pre-assembled, though, and easier to work with. SF Quick Connects don't work with the Ultrasabers variety.

Now let me look around for similar topics here.

EDIT: I didn't see any thread titles mentioning US soundboards. Nothing about them going into SF hilts. This is new ground we're breaking, and you're gonna get to write the book on it! Alternatively you could use a Spark board or something. But where's the adventuring spirit of that? Could you get us some dimensions for the components (battery holder and soundboard)?

Awesome! Yes, the internal diameter of my current hilt is in fact 1", I believe that is industry standard. My switch is about 16mm in all, but it has a little bit of an overhang that puts about 4mm on the piece, so i might be able to disassemble it to make it fit. I know that US sells the Tri-cree LED units, I wasn't aware that they were brighter than the SF 12W units though! that might make things easier.

I really appreciate the help!

the obsidian board is 2" and 6cm long, by 1" wide. The battery pack is 3.5" long by 1 and 1/4" in diameter.

Exiting stuff! i hope the transfer works well.

I get my US saber with sound on Thursday. Shall I take pictures of the soundboard for you Ryan?

The pictures aren't needed, but hey, they're always nice to have.
I have to be the bearer of bad news now, however. The battery pack is 1.25 inches in diameter, which will not fit in any of the Apprentice sabers for sure, and I don't even know if there's an Elite hilt that wil accommodate it. The soundboard theoretically will fit inside, unfortunately nothing else will fit around it, and that space would be needed.

So sorry, it won't fit. But, as long as you're willing to try a DIY installation, you can get different electronics. Apprentice hilts are tough to install anyway, though, but not impossible. The main issue stems from their internal diameter being so small, and that they're only made of two prices, body and pommel.
Unless you have extensive experience with this sort of thing, I would either suggest an Elite hilt for an install and different electronics, or to get a pre made SF Apprentice hilt, though you won't be able to change sound fonts unless you spring for the $525 Hero Tier.

I guess Ultrasabers' stuff is just too big.

Perhaps I can ask for a custom milling to make the internal diameter bigger, for a premium... f course.

Speaker holder is 1.25" OD, not including the locking ring, and won't fit. Battery pack should be 1 1/8" wide (28mm) and should be a tight squeeze in most Elite hilts. Won't be able to power a 12W LED properly, though, since 14500s top out at about 2A of current, whereas a 12W would need 4A. The existing 1" US LED unit should fit into a SF hilt without issue.

Obsidian has a power rating of 3.6-9v, so it could, in theory, run on a single lithium ion battery like a typical SF setup. That said, it will likely suffer a slight volume reduction, since the on board amp probably has a 5v minimum for maximum audio. You could try a 7.4v 2x-18500 pre-wired stick battery to take up less width and run the 12W+ and still keep max audio. Would need a custom speaker holder either way.

Not going to be able to use the US switch. I forget measurements on the Guarded switch, the AVs are 16mm. You need 12mm AV switches in SF hilts without modification.

Awesome. My idea is to completely transplant my US guts to an apprentice hilt, so I will not be using the 12w+ light, therefore will not be needing any more power.

Is there anyplace I can buy SF AV momentary switches? Fortunately, I have a tech-minded brother and we should be able to figure the electronics out, somehow.

Do you think it would be possible to acquire a SF batter pack, to which I can attach my obsidian board, and LED?

Ii hate to sound like I'm barraging you, but you seem to know more about this sort of thing than I. Is this the sort of battery you were speaking of?

If memory serves you can buy the SF battery pack in the accessories section of the main site. I do not know if it would properly power your obsidian board though.

A 1"-wide board won't fit over an 18500/18650 battery inside a 1.125" ID hilt. 7/8" is about the limit on board width if you want to stack the board on an 18000-series battery.

If you've got the space, a 2x14500 stick pack should slide in and allow a 1" Obsidian board to sit on top. The stick pack's about 4" long though, so you'll need a decently long saber body so that the battery doesn't bump into the switches.

TCSS stocks both the battery packs and 12mm Momentary switches.

I'm guessing on the ID based on available pre-made chassis though. For all I know, some SF hilts have a 1 3/16" ID that'll fit an 18650 and Obsidian just fine.
