My Chosen 12w+ Purple has finally hit the build queue and I plan to add a Spark 2 soundboard when it arrives. I plan to use the stock LED, battery, battery holder, and order a 20mm speaker. I know that there has been issues with fitting this all in apprentice hilts. I'd rather not do battery pack/recharge port as I would either have to drill another switch hole or lose the Aux switch function. Can any Chosen owners comment on the actual space inside these hilts, and if this install seems feasible? Any help would be much appreciated!

Good luck! Any installation on an apprentice hilt will be a challenge, and more so for a thin neck. I hope it works out for you; sounds like a great build.

Yeah, I might just wait until the hilt comes in and take some measurement. I don't want to buy everything and find out it's not going to work.

Very prudent. If it doesn't work, is there another hilt you think you'll install instead?

Well.......yes and no. I'm waiting on my ASP saber with sound. I guess I could swap the setup over to that one, but I would then want to put the Sabercore board/electronics into the Chosen. I don't know how the two boards compare in size. I noticed someone mentioned in another thread to put the speaker in the pommel. I wonder if that is possible with a 20mm speaker?

Shouldn't be too different in size.

Man I'm installing a Spark 2 with recharge port, 20mm speaker and 12w+ green LED right now in my ASP, and I gotta say it is CRAMPED in there! I'm having a hard time finding room and I designed a pretty long hilt.

That's good to know, thanks for sharing! I plan on doing the same install in both my ASP and my Chosen. I'm wondering if using a chassis would help or just take up more space.

Man I keep having problems with it shorting on me, but I'm honestly not sure how I'd fit in a chassis; if anything I need to line the inside with plastic.

Ugh, that doesn't sound good. What have you done to isolate/shield your electronics from shorting. IMO that should've been a major concern.

Have you tried Liquid Electrical tape?

I have not :p Although now I'm actually pretty certain I've burned and damaged my soundboard; it only shuts off when it senses a swing or clash.

Based on Spark 2 measurements and a Viridian soundboard in hand, the Spark 2 is almost exactly the same size as the Viridian soundboard without the TrueDrive attached. it is a little over 1/4" longer with TrueDrive attached.

Did you get your Chosen, yet?

I have, and it's definitively going to be a tight fit. I'm measuring about 3 1/8" from the switch section to the pommel threads. I plan on doing a recharge port, but I think the Spark 2 should fit right on the back of the current battery holder. I will have to use a 20mm speaker and place it inside the pommel.
