Hello everyone,

Right now I am in the middle of my saber build but I have struck out.
I allready created a tri-cree (RED) parallel LED unit. But I am kind of stuck to my battery.
The voltage I can get for batteries are around the 3,7V catagory but the Amps they put out differ.
Does this matter?

Per example I could wire in a 3,7 Li-ion battery in with a 1.0 ohm resistor. But would a 4amp battery behave differently to a 6amp battery (please don't mind the numbers on the amps. Just shooting some numbers here).

Please help a dude out :<

That's just the *maximum* rated current draw.

The Tri-Cree LED (and any LED, really) will only draw the ~3A+ it wants, so long as you use the right resistor.

The 4A battery might not suffice though, since the LED will be pulling close to 4A on a fresh battery (4v+) with your current resistor and won't drop down to 3A until the battery voltage hits nominal 3.6-3.7v. You'll either want a larger resistor or that 6 amp battery.

Really though, even an affordable Trustfire 18650 (from a reputable seller) should be able to handle 5A before the protection circuit kicks in.

As it stands right now I would be using this (resistor)

And couple it with either these batteries or with these batteries

Just sucky that it's super hard to find the same material used in US builds over in Europe. Stuff like buckpucks are almost impossible to come by :(

You really don't want to be using a buckpuck in a modern lightsaber anyway, so no worries there.

I haven't tried the blue-label trustfires yet, but the ones I have on-hand (black-with-fire-label) have run Tri-Cree Reds no problem. I've even run a 5-LED crossguard at a combined 4A+ using them. I've no experience with that specific Panasonic cell either.

For small parts like Resistors, you might want to check The Custom Saber Shop. There's a cheaper international shipping option for small parts that's not listed on the site, but is available if you email Tim directly.

Right I think I got it all figured out. I have most of the material in house including some 5 watt 1 ohm resistors (company said they were out of 3 watt and ''upgraded'' for free).

I tried to wrap my head around it and tried to make a diagram on how I should wire it. It's a really simple project but I really don't want to mess it up :P

Is the following image correct?
