So I finally got my hands on this this beast earlier today after picking it up via quick-ship last Sunday. And it is
GLORIOUS. I've toyed around with it empty while the battery is charging to get some first impressions.
First of all, this bad boy has some girth to it, but not like the Malice from Ultrasabers. There's a lot of mean packed into this frame. Despite initial handling, it doesn't feel bulky, and maybe feels about twice the weight of a Gladius. It clocks in at about 16" from pommel to the tip of the blades, and about 4 3/4" wide across the blades, and about 5/16" thick. Comparison shot below to my Gladius, Dark Lord Relic, and Saberz Sentris.
The wrapped section of the hilt is just big enough for one hand...
But what surprised me was that the control box doesn't feel like it would get in the way much, in large part because the box itself is nicely chamfered on top and the sides and been radiused ever so slightly to take away any sharp edge. In fast, the only sharp point I've noticed on this hilt thus far is the base of the fan blades, below the second screws holding them in (each fan blade has two screws to keep them tight).
I'd really excited to get the battery charged so I can finally see for myself the difference between 6w and 12w in red, since I have a staff that I put a couple 6w red modules into myself. That first picture was on a partial battery charge in an afternoon daylit room.
I will proudly declare my allegiance to Darth Malgus with this saber. FOR THE EMPIRE!
