So, I want to get a venom body for my asp build with gold vein finish. I emailed SF and asked if it was possible to just get the grenade section done and leave the ends as the standard finish. They replied saying that they couldn’t do it.

So does anyone think it’d be possible to strip/temove the powder coat from the parts of the hilt where I don’t want it?

But then I get the problem of bot having those black accents because it’s not a translicent coat. Would it be better to go with the straigjt gold finish and still try and remove it to reveal the standard finish underneath where I want it?

The gold won’t show on the black, it will stay black.

Sandpaper will remove powder coating. Start with larger grits (100, etc.) and finish with finer grits (1000+) to get that shine back. Be careful, though, sandpaper will also remove anodizing, so don’t sand anything you still want black on.

Are you saying the translucent gold or the gold vein will still show the black? Because I know the translucent gold will but the site says unless the finish says “tanslucent” or “transparent” then accents colours will not show through. So it was my understanding that if I got a gold vein finish the whole thing would be that finish.

And I didn’t think sandpaper would be adequate haha. I thought I’d have to use some kind of chemical.

Actually, I don’t know about the gold vein. It may cover everything.

And, yes, sandpaper will take you back to bare metal. Believe me, it removes anodizing, I speak from experience. Anodizing is a tougher finish to remove than powder coating.

Awesome. I may just go with the gold or copper then and sand back what I don’t want. And I’ll ne careful with the anodised parts! Haha
