Hey everyone!,

I’m currently working on doing shattered weathering on my chosen V1, does anyone know any good techniques or advice to help get a good shattering pattern. Is there any tools that I would specifically need?
I’m going for like a smaller version of Shameems Sacrifice saber.

Thanks.

I used Audacity to create my startup file....recorded my own voice and distorted it
I also used the Windows text to speech voice and recorded it while it read what i had typed to create my own configurator sound font total of 34 files in that font... hehe

just be sure they're in 16bit PCM, Mono, 22050Hz with no Metadata

P.S. there's different ways for the different boards. The above is for NEC fonts that don't have the hum pre-mixed, which the Sabercore 3.0 uses.

So when you record your voice and distort it, it’s like the start up for cyber assassin?
And how do you make the swing and clash sounds?
Sorry, I’m not very knowledgeable about sound design

yup
as far as swing and clash I used files from other fonts and just used them for my font.
just have to rename the file to match the naming convention Sabercore uses

I should have known this was a Shameem video from the beginning! The man does fantastic work, but I didn't know he had a shattered weathering tutorial. I'll be sure to refer to this again when I shatter my Apprentice hilt.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of "shattered" weathering as that's not how metal breaks/cracks... but if you HAVE to do this to your saber, definitely listen to Shameem lol.

Yeah KX
I agree, the metal used can contain the lightsabers power, it should also be able to resist another sabers hits.....Cortosis. Songsteel, Phrik, Mando Iron, several others.....

Besides I like my lightsabers shiny and new.....
soldiers are need to keep thier weapons clean...to that end they are always taking care of, and cleaning it.
so why would you let your saber get all damaged and filthy?? don't get it

P.S. My sabers would be made from Songsteel

@KelbornX and @Rhyno , you guys have good points, shattered sabers are more of relics than anything.

The way I see it, the shattered effect is the result of a lightsaber being exposed to Force Lightning when activated, like what Mace Windu's saber went through. The idea being that the energy being lashed out against the blade is powerful enough to overload the saber, and the Force Lightning is powerful enough to create scoring down the hilt.

Frankly, I wouldn't be doing this to my Apprentice hilt if it wasn't a boring cylinder of metal in the first place. I'm trying to turn it into a bit of an Old Republic relic that's been put away somewhere for thousands of years without consistent repair. As a result, the blade retains the scars it gained over its lifespan of fighting Sith sorcerers and being on the receiving end of Force Lightning.

Yeah E64
that's the only way I see a saber getting so messed up....
the user getting killed, the saber getting damaged, then getting buried away in some shrine to the former user.

Alrighty guys, I’ve completed the base shatter pattern and punched a whole through the thin neck area.
It’s not the best but for only being 17 I think I did pretty good

What do you guys think?

Looks pretty good to me, considering you haven't altered the hilt's color scheme to emphasize the shattering yet.

Something I've learned early on in projects, just in general, is that for most things, you shouldn't judge yourself based on age, but purely on experience. This is pretty good for a first try.

Now, are you going to be overhauling the entire hilt's color scheme, or will you leave it as-is?

Hey E64,
Yeah I plan on doing a dark side slightly weathered look to it and changing from its medium blue LED to a Blood Orange one.
Any suggestions on doing a darker color scheme?
