You have been asking for it, and we heard you! Here is some basic documentation on the SaberCore 3 soundboard.

This is a read-only file, but the downloadable version will be available from the main Saber Forge site soon.

Hey Brax,

spot on - thanks for the good news!
After reading through the pdf, there's two questions from my side regarding the Editor:

Like the previous screen, all options here are applicable to the currently selected font
bank. Here you can choose a blade effect, adjust the “Power On Fade Up Delay”, and
“Power Off Fade Down Delay”. There are also buttons that allow you to play more of
the individual sound effects of the currently selected font bank.

So does that mean that these functions are available now?
I'm thinking of Rhyno's recent thread https://saberforgeforum.com/forum/saber-electronics-diy/14198-sabercore-3-0-editor-settings#81671?

Fonts created for use on an NEC board will work after changing the individual effect
names to match the format of the native SC3 fonts. Fonts created for Plector Labs
boards have the hum mixed into each of the individual sound effects, which makes them
incompatible with SC3, without sound editing of each effect.

That's interesting because I already tried to fiddle with the sabercore soundfiles in cubase and found that they are also having the hum in the background. So that left me thinking that I'd rather have to mix the hum into any custom effect sounds that I would want to create / add (?).
Do you happen to know what's then the issue with the Plector [sic] (typo found) Labs soundfonts? Or am I reading this wrong somehow?

Also, as it isn't mentioned in the doc: Human sense would dictate me to not disconnect the saber while it is being rewritten. But depending on what would happen in that case, maybe a warning would be required?

Hey Top
So I’ve been using audacity to mess with some fonts...
What I have noticed is that the fonts from SaberForge do not have a noticeable hum....at least with audacity and to my ears.
What I hav noticed is that some fonts that are optimized for NEC do have the hum premixed...depending on the author.
As you say might be worth it to do your own that way your sure hum is not mixed in.
I myself have no musical talent or musical tech know how.... so I’ll stick to messing with pre existing fonts with the audacity.

The Power On Fade Up, and Fade Down features are still coming in a future update.

As for the font questions, the information included there comes straight from our old buddy Shameem, whom I trust when it comes to these things. Essentially, the advice is, if you are going to use a font from SaberFonts.com, grab the NEC version, and be prepared to rename the files according to the standard that SC3 can recognize. Shameem created the SC3 versions from his NEC variants, specifically for SF.

This guide is now available on the main site, under the SaberCore 3 page. There is a button right next to the one to download the config app, that says "View Manual".
