I like them both! However, my heart still belongs to the Regal, which has a pommel a lot like the Relic, and an emitter very similar to that of the Relic. Basically, a single-bladed Relic, with a slightly different styling on the main body. That will be my next saber. Just wish I had some hint of an idea when it might become available.

So, the flared metal is actually part of the body then? Interesting! It still presents a similar "mace-like" menace, just without the points. Thus the appeal...

Considering my concept picture is my costume. I've been trying to think of a naginata concept for my ASP Legacy saber. Now that the cross guard has been revealed, I'm going to have to consider it. Looks amazing! Plus since it's ASP, I can always change it up. |

It may be "Jyu-monji-Yari" = cross winged spear rather than Naginata.
Musashi Miyamoto hardly beaten the master spearsman of this.

Any plans for a Mace Windu or Darth Sidious inspired hilt?
There's been chatter about a Windu ASP expansion. SF's owner, Phil Isherwood, has stated his dislike of the Sidious saber so chances for that one are kinda slim. The upcoming Regal (renders can be found in the upcoming saber forum thread) kinda has the same aesthetic of Sidious IMO.

Problem with the Sidious hilt is the emitter is about a half inch deep and it's a shoto-sized saber for screen accuracy... wouldn't be a very good dueler to actually have

Yeah.
It's that emitter that just... does it in. No way to secure the blade to the hilt with it... they could make a model based off the clone wars one, but it's just not the same

Yeah. Spit ball'n ideas now. What if the emitter disk was just purely decorative? Treat it like a thin neck except have the blade attach in the ribbed section. Or maybe have the emitter disk sit on the top of the body's "cone" and omit that tiny neck. They can't make an exact replica anyways so if they wanted to I'm sure T. Snyder could come up with a satisfactory work around.

OOH! Here's an idea... the "emitter" could actually be a blade plug that was installed into the top of the saber... could take it out, then install the blade into the lower ribbed section, make it duel worthy, and when you're done, put the blade plug back in, and you'd have a relatively screen-accurate, display and duel-worthy saber.

Yeah, that would be possible, so long as you could create a socket deep enough to hold the saber securely, and that the 1" diameter blade did not force that ribbed section to be expanded too much. It would lose something if it were the same diameter as the rest of the saber or bigger.

Actually, this is similar to what SF did with the Reborn. The super thin emitter is actually a unique blade plug, so you might be able to do something along those lines for a Sidious inspired design.
