Those were actually the original concept drawings for both of those sabers. The Bane was modified slightly to account for the demands of mass production. The Regal was modified to make it ASP compatible.

Hi all, Brax,

Oh right didn't know that, so is/was Khaine on deviantart an SF designer? I read that Mrs Isherwood was responsible for the Black Lotus and I have seen members ask for more info on who these great artists/designers are, (a possible showcase was discussed I think).

Thomas Snyder is the name of their main designer, and he was responsible for both sabers. I remember seeing his stuff at DeviantArt, and the other name might be one of his monikers.

I have finished modeling the saber. I still need to model threading so it can be screwed apart and together and then printing, but here is a render of the finished hilt, primarily in black as requested.

Part of this saber is too talk to print on my printer, however I have access to a bigger printer at my local makerspace. In the mean time I made a blade plug for my renegade.

The full hilt to scale of the original render is 320mm or around 15 inches. It is divided into 4 sections that will screw together. The largest section, the main grip is approximately 150 mm or 6 inches tall. Printable height in my printer maxs out a little under 5.5 inches.

It's cool though. I'm actually the 3D maker master for my local maker space. I teach 3D classes once a month and run demos on their machine also once a month. I have to buy new filament because the printer there doesn't use the same size I use at home. Because of scheduling that puts me at least two weeks out to be able to print the parts.

While I am waiting for what is needed to be able to print this design (small chance I can print it this weekend.) I ordered a blade from TCSS to test fit with my rebelgade. I want to be sure that my measurements are right. My wife keeps telling me I should open an etsy store and sell some of the things I like to 3d print, but don't need a lot of. If I do, and if I put saber hilts on it, I want them to be fully upgradable to light and sound.

my modeling software corrupted about half of my designs. My renegade and the Regal we among them. I will re-model them, but its put more lead time before I can show a finished product.

What ID are you using for your hilts? Specifically at the blade holder/emitter part? I'm currently using 1.05", since 1" usually ends up just a bit too tight after printing/painting.

I don't think the hilt I've made is even strong enough to actually hold a blade though. I'm worried it'll just end up snapping the top off, lol.

OMG! How have I missed this for a solid week?!?!?! That is just the way I envisioned this saber! Mainly in powder coat black finish, and a frost white blade (of course I am imagining that white blade).

That is an awesome effort man! This saber MUST be put into production, and I MUST have one! :woohoo:
