I've been kicking this idea around in my head for some time and never got around to it. So today I finally plotted course and set sail.

Today, I took up my Mauler staff and I installed a D-Ring on to my kill key…

OK definitely easier to remove. Is that strong enough to hang on a belt?

Looks good! Now how the heck did you screw that into the kill-key?

He used magic. More like take a kill key drill 2 holes 180° or opposite each other. Then I'ld imagine he opened a dring and snapped it in and violà.

I'd say it's strong enough to hang but probably has an easy possibility of falling out. I did shake it up and down but nothing crazy and rigorous like backflips n shit.

Pretty much nailed it. But I tried to be a bit more precise.

My exact process was…
I first put painters tape on either side of the kill key with it on the saber. Due to the keys being offset in how they're positioned, I had to ensure the holes I drilled were in the correct spot for the D-ring to sit correctly. So I marked little lines on the tape to where the center of the kill key would be located. Then I marked each side of the kill key. Used a sharp punch and hammer then knocked a quick indent where I made the mark to have as a guide for my drill bit. Used a bit the same size as the diameter of the ring as my pilot hole and drilled out each side. Then used a bit the next size up and drilled in to it again to give the ring the ability to swing a little more freely. Opened the ring, compressed in to place. :)

Now I usually prefer Covertec knobs because they hold the saber more securely and prevent extra wiggle when you walk (which annoys the hell out of me), but I think this not only looks great, but would probably be more useful than a knob for a staff like this.

Keep up the cool mods Nebosa!

Thanks guys.
I appreciate all the kind words!

To give some insight in to my thoughts behind it; I've always noticed Maul would hang his saber closer to the emitter. And like Korr said, it is more useful than the covertech knob, especially where the knobs are to be placed on the end of hilt (or right in the damn middle of it when configured in to a staff). I've also seen covertech kill keys done often as well. So my thoughts just naturally progressed.

I only put one d-ring kill key and not one on both sides because it's only necessary to have it from the one side. If I choose to separate it to a single wield. I'll put it on the one I want to carry. The weight of just a single hilt feels less strenuous on it. The full 21" Mauler has a nice weight to it and to be hanging like that for long periods would also put strain on the pin in the charge port. So luckily it's always displayed horizontally.

I also only put one on it because this was a test flight and I only had one spare d-ring and one spare kill key to attempt my idea with lol.
