A-hem. Well, it would seem I missed something.
But, at any rate, just wanted to come and let everyone know that I saw on the Custom Saber Owner's Group on Facebook... the very first ASP shipping label was printed today.
They're coming, guys. Train might be a bit slow to get rolling, but it's on the tracks and the whistle is blowing.
I think that a lot of people who pledged either fundraising campaigns went in with the wrong mindset. It isn't a regular business transaction (I give you X you give me Y). You're giving money so something awesome can come to fruition, and SF gives you something in return as a thank you. It may not seem like a difference, but that's the way I see it; it's called a pledge and not a purchase.
This is more apparent in other campaigns were the thing being funded isn't a product or concrete thing (like the Dragon's Lair movie Don Bluth has been trying to get off the ground). And a lot of times your "reward" for your pledge isn't worth as much as you gave (like a tote bag for giving $50 to PBS), except with the ASP campaign what we're getting is worth more than what we pledged.
That being said...
I think you nailed it, Jaden. A lot of people seem to mentally be going at this as a straight up purchase, rather than donation with a thank you incentive attached. A lot of them also don't seem to realize that the shipping date originally provided was an estimate, and one for a project roughly 1/10th the size of what it ended up being, at that.
But, having said that... I have an update! I just saw confirmation in the comments of the post I screen shotted earlier. Confirmation that was provided... by our dear Knytiri himself: 15 ASP orders (from the first batch of 150 produced) were shipped today.
