I am considering sealing my saber up with PC-7 after it is finished, but I am wondering of the reliability of the electronics. I know many hilts are glued before they are shipped, but mine is arriving in many pieces, so I have this choice. I have heard of a sort of chassis for the soundboard, what are my options there?

There a bunch of different components that go into a saber, all of them have varying degrees of durability and of course different products are going to better and more durable than other, but on a carefully built saber they should be very durable.

It seems to me like the most common thing to go first is the recharge port because regular use loosens the pin that disconnects power over time. But of course wiring can go too and since electronic parts are sensitive anything is really possible.

I know a lot of people on the forums use loctite blue threadlocker to glue their sabers because it is removable if repairs need to be done in the future. An epoxy would make that near impossible I'd imagine.

As for the chassis there are lots of options. Thanks to 3d printing you can order them of shapeways. I went to the goth3designs by darth Ryo page and he has so many options, I used a 1.12" Inner diameter universal chassis with a 18mm speaker holder for my last built and there are a bunch of other options. A lot of guys on here will just cut up blade stock to make chassis for their builds so you can definitely make it yourself if you wanted.

This is this one.

It's in the 1.11" OD category

It's only holds the soundboard and the battery you need a speaker holder and optionally a recharge port holder. I can definitely say it works excellently.
