TOPIC: Themed Sabers

Hi Raphos, Everyone,

I'm sorry that Velocity is having that effect on you (getting a Pike style weapon I mean!) but some of my other designs have had similar effects on other members. I usually have to make an all black version of all my designs to keep the Black Hilt Crew members happy.
I shudder to think what damage I Have done to their Virtual Wallets/Bank Accounts with all the hilts I've done now.

Theoretically it should be possible to develop the ASP Builder to enable users to make the design changes you refer to like swapping the angle/positions of the claws and parts but I think SF wanted something fairly simple for everyone to use without the need for advanced 3D design package knowledge. Adding those features would push the designer towards being like a 3D CAD package.

Now back to designs, I had better warn you that I have another Staff design as I mentioned in my last post but also a matching pair of Sabers to add to the series. I will post these over the next week.

Hi MHM, Everyone,

Thank you MHM, I just had a "blip", I felt a little burned out. I am OK now after my little rest. I put myself under too much pressure sometimes to come up with stuff but I will take breaks more regularly from now on.

I appreciate all the comments I receive, thank you all. I have a couple of designs for another of Lion-O's friends, which include a staff and a Main/Shoto pair. I will post these over the next few days.

So while Master Tyeth is taking a creative breather, I figured I'd throw another inspiration up here.

I'm not sure that anyone might guess as to its origins just by the look, and it's sort of a cheat in that's kind of already a lightsaber of sorts, but it's from a video game I love, so I'm presenting:

TERRA'S ANGER










If you're still lost, think of equipping the Offering and hitting with this four times! Okay fine, it's Final Fantasy 3's (6's) Atma Weapon. I went with the Sorcerer emitter both due to the magic nature of the original weapon plus it gave a wider "guard" profile. I also chose a very short overall hilt to make the blade seem longer. Because Atma's blade was ridiculous. And if your copy was glitched like mine was, you got one of these at the start of the game!

That is really neat looking Raphos. Terra's Anger looks like it would be an awesome staff. Really nice creation you have. I like it!

It's time for me to post my next design in the 80's Cartoon theme. As I mentioned earlier I have a Staff design foir another of Lion-O's allies. He's BIG, he's BLUE (sorta) and normally uses a form of weapon made infamous by Bruce Lee!
Well he needs a Saber based weapon in this day and age so I now present....

PANTHERA STAFF:















I think Panthro would approve of this! I hope you Guys and Gals like it too. I have another gift for Panthro in the form of a matching pair of Sabers which I will post in the coming days.

P.S. It was mentioned I was having a breather^^, well I was online and watching and since then have come up with four designs from the mechanical planet, Sabertron which will be posted after the Thundercat designs.

That is a wicked looking color scheme, Tyeth. And yeah, that's really not helping me to resist a pike order. I'm really digging these 80's throwback designs. So glad I prodded you! Though my future wallet may not be.

Appreciate the comments on my latest work as well. You too, MHM! A staff, eh...? Hmm... Stay tuned!

If you cannot tell at this point, I'm rather addicted to the ASP Builder. Not that my skills will ever be to the level of Sir Tyeth's, it's fun to practice. Getting things in the right order is often an exercise in frustration.

Anyway, inspired by a comment from MHM, I offer the saber-staff version of the Atma weapon:

The extension pieces in the builder are nice, but I like the symmetry and artistry or some of the simpler bodies. Cheers!

That is an awesome staff! I like the length using three hilt bodies rather than the staff extensions. Your skills are very good, as I have told other members they can all design Sabers. You are no different than me, I started back in December and have slowly built up my collection of designs BUT I had doubts about my skills until a certain fellow member told me this:

Raphos, you are already doing the best thing possible...practise! Keep a folder with all your designs in to form a portfolio, then you can look back through it and see what worked and what you can change to make others. Great work!

Hi Everyone,

I promised earlier that I would have another gift for Panthro, so here I present my next variation to his weapon. Panthro was famous for wielding a pair of Nunchaku, and I had the thought "what would he do if his Panthera Staff were to be damaged, Darth Maul style?". Well he may dual wield each end of his Staff as separate weapons. So I made a few changes and he now has a pair of Sabers, the .....

This is Saber 1 of the pair and I will post Saber 2 later today. I hope this counts as a new design as I may have a little twist to reveal with the second part of this pair.

For Tyth, I'm impressed how much you are able to manipulate the asp builder to get info.

Wow, the black hilt goes really well with the red wrap and that gold knob. Really nice color choices there For. Amazing as always. Also, if what I say inspires you to inspire others, then show that quote all over.

Thank you for the kind remarks, but I still have a long way to go before I have the skills that you possess. I am still slowly working out Sketchup to try and get some basic ideas into some sort of 3D design, but I fear either my grasp of the software is poor or that the freeware version lacks some of the bells and whistles the full package has!

I keep on plugging away with the ASP Builder in the meantime.

Thanks I will give that a look. I have made a replica of my tower block and a couple of Royal Air Force control towers and hangars but Sketchup doesn't like curves and curved objects much! Thanks again for the recommendation.
