Hello fellow SF fans,

I recently heard there's a saber fighting school in Paris. It's called the Sport Saber League and it teaches the seven forms of lightsaber fighting.

They're equipped with Initiate hilts from Ultra Sabers (we'll try and sell them SaberForge later on :p ) which are nice hilts, they look pretty standard and easy to handle.

The prices are not too hefty considering that for 320 € you get an hour and a half (1h30) of class a week, plus you get unlimited access to the gym room any day of the week.
You can apparently only be taught Shii-Cho the first year, and you can move onto Makashi, Ataru or Soresu the year after. Niman, Juyo and Djem-So can only be taught after two years of class and with the approval of a Master.

If anyone's interested, I plan on going this saturday to see if it's possible to get a free class to try out. Feel free to PM me or answer this thread and we'll organise something!

I'M SO FREAKING PUMPED!!!

There also is in Orléans and they're opening pretty soon in Cholet, in Normandy. Maybe you're closer to one of those two :)

Yop, je suis sur Paris aussi, ça pourrait être sympa de se retrouver.

Also i'm not à big fan of this new lightsaber discipline, maybe too restrictive

I mean, do you really need to be in for 1 to 2 years to be able to study Niman or Djem so ? I think its pretty lame considering that the "master" would most likely not be a real "expert" in sword combat. So their based legitimity to teach is quite limited.

As written somewhere on their website, all masters have experience in AT LEAST one martial art including staffs, sabers, swords and such.
So I guess they're pretty good at what they do and I think that the whole point of this is to be sure you actually master your weapon before moving onto more agressive stuff. This way, you don't harm yourself nor others :)

Well I'll be damned...

I've wanted to try the Saber Sports League in Paris but they're already full! They're making a waiting list though, and I'm going to put my name on it!

Still, for anyone looking for a sparring partner, I volunteer as a tribute! As soon as I have my very own SF saber though ... :(
