I too am in the process of trying to find out some info about Etsy and have asked SF (via Etsy 1st and now email) whether I will get an already machined Champion Exhalted, with my LED and blade choice, even though I ordered from the website. I'm wondering why if they have the hilts made and just need to swap my LED out then I could have one in the Etsy turnaround time of 1-2 weeks.

Unfortunately im not having much luck. I ordered on the 6th and have ONLY just got an email reply, and not a particularly helpful or informative one at that (SF living up to the hype in this department I'm afraid).

Seems fairly reasonable to me that if you have hilts made and advertised for 1-2 weeks, I could have one of those, as its the same product, just ordered via a different avenue. Stock is stock isn't it?

From every thing I have surmised from various pieces of information their production process looks like this -

From the Website

They have a certain amount of hilts in stock in the warehouse, when an order is received they queue that order for that particular hilt. So for example you order a Guardian, well right now they are working on Avengers. So your Guardian order is scheduled to go with all the other Guardian orders. So the 8-10 week lead time is good for them so they can schedule hilt deliveries or stock control. So they work on specific hilts in batches, all guardians, all gladiuses etc. I have seen orders come in and delivered in a few weeks which mostly meant they most likely won the hilt rotation lottery so to speak.

Etsy Orders

They have a certain amount of hilts in stock and they are a variety of hilts. They pull from that stock and only work those orders. So they are quicker and more variety. Most of the stock is most likely over stock from their hilt orders that they do in phases.

This is not confirmed as this just seems to be a hint at their production process. It makes total sense as there is a production line process that allows for quality control. You are more likely to see errors or mistakes if working with say 100 of the same hilts as opposed to 2 here 3 over here. Etsy hilts are pre built waiting for the proper LED / battery pack to be dropped in and or board of your choosing.

I have never had any type of problem with contacting SF through email or Facebook.. and I've done both, to clarify things and inquire on how to order specific things. It usually takes them a few hours, or even a day or so, to get back to me via email (currently waiting on an email now, actually), and just a matter of minutes to an hour or so for Facebook. But I haven't tried messaging them on Etsy. My advice is to make sure the subject line is clear, and not something generic. They might overlook it that way. I used to work in email tech support, and I know I always prioritizing answering customer emails that came in clearly labeled over the ones that came in "hm." Or "uhoh!" and the like... because, on a general basis, those emails were generally cluttered and hard to understand what the writer was asking, and took more time, and I could answer 6 others in the time it took me to make sense of theirs. They might be experiencing the same thing with email communication, so, just try to make sure any email you send in is clear and concise, easy to understand, and simple to respond to. :)

Thankyou Knytiri, I made my message very clear and concise, with my order number in the subject line too. The Etsy message still sits unanswered and the email actually took 4 days (I just checked so I apologise for dramatizing lol)

I had heard that SF weren't great with this part so I went into the messaging somewhat prepared but hopeful. I got a reply with an offer to cancel my order for a fee, but thats not what I asked at all. I'm not looking to cancel anything and will wait for my saber regardless, but I found the Etsy ones after ordering from the site so naturally wanted to ask about them, whether i would get one because they're already machined, and whether they would rather me re-order from Etsy to get the shorter lead time. I'll give it another day or so and try FB.

I got my avenger from etsy. 2 weeks and 2 days from the day I placed my order to the day it arrived! I live in Guelph ON Canada. It also cost me 70 bucks to rescue it from canada post! When it was all said and done it cost 640 dollars! Worth every penny in my eyes! My wife on the other hand! Not so much!

Hi Paul. Would you please clarify the shipping charge as I live in BC. Was this $70 in Cdn. funds and in addition to the shipping charge from Etsy? Was considering purchasing from there to have a reduced wait time rather then getting a build from the SF site. I didn't have to pay Canada Post any extra customs or other fees with my previous package. Thanks for the clarification. It is getting so expensive with the Cdn. dollar tanking so am happy for you that it is worth it. It's a big investment so as a woman can understand how your wife perceives this purchase. :)

Hey Dauntless. The customs charge at the post office was 70 dollars canadian. This was on top of the shipping charge from etsy. Sad to say this also happened with a ultra saber I purchased a couple of years ago. I think i get fisted cause of the area I live in if not sure? Funny thing about the dollar here! I was going to purchase the Guardian when the canadian dollar was better then the US. At the time I thought I would get the pair when it was released. Jokes on me I guess!

Paul you need one huge bandage. Ouch! Someone suggested that I befriend someone who lives in Seattle then go there to pick it up. Makes sense and the money saved would almost pay for the Ferry trip and short holiday. I think that if the right saber opportunity presents, I'll make an Etsy store purchase and see what happens. I like that Etsy converts the price to Canadian while viewing. I know that SF occasionally offers a sale that includes the Etsy store.
