Darth Sabre Offline New Member Posts: 11 Thank you received: 14	Just a quick tip for anyone who would like to wrap the hilts katana-style: it might be easier (and way prettier) to order your katanas with a leather wrap and then do the tsuka-maki like this:

I'm not very interested in the katanas sabers, and for a good reason: I already have a real Japanese Handmade Katana set (Katana & Wakizashi)! However, I must admit that they a very impressive display!

Griffon: Fleur de lis is correct. I like the symbol ... in German it is called the "Ritterlilie", which translates to "Knight's Lily". And yes, I sewed it to the inner wrap.

And I am working on a video review ... will take some more time, though.

Darth Revan: yes, I was pleased with the look the tsuka-maki adds to the sabers. But I decided to have another go at it. Mainly, because I used cloth as wrap, which isn't practical as it is moving when you work the saber hard. Also, the 20mm cotton band turned out to be too broad for my taste; I am going to try a 10mm leather band around a tightly fitted leather wrap.

Do you notice much grip difference with the Wakizashi or the Tanto hilt lengths. Have you out of curiosity tried the three blades in each saber? I just want to get one for sparring only. Thanks.

''Fleur de Lys'' is the symbol of the Quebec, a canadian Province (Which I'm a proud representative)! I love your choice! My katanas have goldens dragons sewed in a red inner wrap, where you have a Fleur de Lys!

Darth Sabre Offline New Member Posts: 11 Thank you received: 14	Update So I removed the cloth and added a smaller (10 mm) dark faux leather wrap. Large upper part ... Short upper part ... Short lower part ... Much better grip than before. More classic look, too. Pleased. Would like to add some blue accents somewhere, though. Maybe paint? It would have to withstand some training sessions. Ideas anyone?

Maybe some acrylic paint in the gap between sections, along the lighter parts of the weathering. Not sure if that would give enough accent but I think it would withstand the training sessions in the gap.
