TOPIC: New to Saberforge! QUESTIONS!

Hi, frolof here!

Im new to Saberforge but I've been a member on "the others" sites.
So, lets get started! By others i mean: (I know its quite frowned upon to mention the others. but iIfeel like I should.)
Vaders Vault, Ultrasabers etc.

Are the sabers customizable? Like, can you change soundfonts? Change colors?
Basicly like one of "the others" have it.

What are these sabers made out of? What blade quality should i expect?

Yup yup. I'm only about 2 weeks ahead of you and I was able to answer those in my head, so the newb info is out there, just gotta do some reading. Materials, qualities, sound board capabilities, color changing, it's all out there. Between the forum, the main SF store, the SF Etsy, youtube reviews... it's all out there.

Ack, the reading will tear my eyes out! So I take it the sabers have Color changing capabilities and soundfont editing?

You can make certain changes to the sabers BUT that depends on what Saber you have and which specification level it is and what you want to do.

The sabers come in FOUR specification levels called Tiers. They are listed in the FAQ's.

An Initiate Tier, is an EMPTY hilt for displaying on a shelf or hanging on your belt for a Cosplay. These can have electronics installed at a later date. They do not come with a blade.

A Warrior Tier, is what is described as a "Stunt Saber", and has an LED light in a colour of your choice BUT no sound.

A Champion Tier, is a Saber which has an LED light AND has sound, there is ONE soundfont on this Saber but you can choose to have Viridian sound (JEDI style sounds) OR Crimson (Sith style sounds). YOU CANNOT CHANGE SOUNDS ON THIS UNLESS YOU CHANGE THE SOUNDBOARD.

The Warrior and Champion Sabers have one colour but there is an option you can purchase and have installed. This is called Quick Connects which allow you to change LED modules. NOT ALL MODELS CAN BE FITTED WITH THIS.

A Hero Tier, is the most complex Saber and has a colour changing LED system and multiple soundfonts onboard. This type of saber can have new soundfonts installed/swapped via an SD card.

The sabers are made of Aircraft grade 6061 Aluminium and are very tough. The blades are also tough and made of Polycarbonate.

The Sabers are divided into Model categories, based on how complex their design is. The Apprentice range are the entry level, followed by Elite range then there are Crystal Chamber and Crystal Chamber reveal.

Most of this is in the FAQ but the short answer is as I say dependant on your plans for what you want to do, and which Saber you order.

So, how do you change these colors? Do you press a button or do you access a program?
So lets say i want to have the "Templar" crossguard saber. I want to to be solely red (or blazing red or whatever you call it ) but i want to be able to change the soundfont. I also want to be able to duel with it. Which tier should i get to save money?

Go to YouTube and search for Saberforge RGBA. Phil gives a tutorial on how to change the colors for the hero tier. You can also look at Saberforge reviews done on YouTube.

We've gotta shepherd the newbies. The FAQ is a quick read really. On another note, I think you're going to have to get a customized saber from the custom shop, unfortunately at the moment they are temporarily no longer taking in commissions as they are swamped in orders and they need to work on all those and the Legacy project.
SF sabers standard sound fonts can't be changed as there's only one inside the saber, albeit they're both great fonts. But you can pick from light side viridian or dark side Crimson. You can though control the flickering of the light, the volume, and motion & impact sensitivity using the onboard control menu. That's in the champion and hero tier sabers. Warrior tier sabers come with no sound, just light.
All SF sabers are duel-ready. The blades are the strongest and brightest in the market. The damn things can practically be considered bullet-proof.

There isn't a rule about mentioning competitors here (if so, all the Graflex 2.0 threads would have been deleted!). Phil himself even left a comment saying he was "watching with great interest" in a thread where someone was showing off their Korbanth Sidious.

While we are first and foremost about SF products, we are saber lovers in general.

And since it seems that having a color changing saber and multiple soundfonts are important to you, a Hero tier with an RGBA LED is what you want. The soundboard used with this is the Spark Color 2 by Naigon Electronic Creations; if you want to learn how to edit the settings, check out the manual on their website.

However, if you'd rather have the brightest saber available and still have sound, Champion is the way to go. And while there is only one hardwired sondfont on the Sabercore 2.0 board used in this tier, this allows the settings to be changed by accessing the menu in hilt by holding down the AV switch for 3 seconds. There is a 3.0 version in the works, which will have swappable soundfonts, along with some other upgrades.
