There isn't anything in a saber that a magnetic field would harm. The field that a button magnet would generate simply is strong enough to. In fact I was once told that to affect the data on a hard drive disk platter you would need a magnet strong enough to yank the iron out of blood.

Thanks, OvrcAHst. I tried it last night, and it works well for awhile, until the tape comes off. I was hoping to find something more permanent like a locking mechanism or way to thicken the card.

@SithLordLim, maybe if you just use hot glue from a glue gun on both edge sides of the card, it would prevent unwanted slippage. Glue from a glue gun is kind of rubbery when it cools so besides widening the card a little it would also provide gripping properties and should be a pretty permanent solution. You can just keep adding more until it's a good fit and if you put on too much, it's easy to just melt the excess off with the hot tip of the glue gun.

Update: I actually tried this yesterday, and it works wonderfully. It took a few tries to get the right amount of hot glue, so that it could cause the perfect amount friction force, but it's flawless. I feel much more comfortable while dueling. Thanks!

Glad that worked out SithLordLim! How does it look? Did any of the glue get on top of the activaton card or were you able to keep the glue on the sides of it relatively easy?

I'm so glad that it worked for you. I was pretty confident that it would. I always seem to find a way to fix or improve something I'm not satisfied with. My methods might not be the most conventional, but they do the trick. I was actually thinking about how to implement a spring system on the card so you could push it back to get to the kill key and then it would just spring back into place once it was out. Anyways, I feel really good that I actually contributed in helping a fellow forum member. Happy dueling.

It was relatively easy to get the glue on the back of the card. I simply slid it out, and added the hot glue. It's totally incognito.

Great idea! And thanks again. The electric tape was too frustrating.
