can somebody illuminate the characteristics of the different blade versions (pun intended.) Or at least as much as you each know. We are currently at v4 right? What sets each apart from it's predecessor? When did pointed blades start being used. Were they pointed before they screwed in? when did diffusion inserts start being used and what are the different inserts? etc...

If memory serves, the V3 blades did not have the threaded tips. I think that was the only difference from the V4.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

What I know is that at some point there were blades that were close to clear and needed a internal diffuser. at some point there were "not clear"blades that had no internal diffuser. At some point there were blades that had an internal diffuser and were not clear. Also there have been rounded tips and pointed tips. And there have been at least 2 different materials used for internal diffusers. But what I cannot do is match all those facts up to v#'s. And yes I believe that one of (and possibly the only) the advancements from v3 to v4 is the screw on tip.

So having said all that here is what I think but do not know (from reviewing tons of videos and various comments made on various boards.)

v1 (which was not called v1
Glue on rounded tip, no internal difuser, whitish color.

v2 (which may or may not have been called v2, it is sometimes but that may just be "predecessor to v3")
Glue on rounded tip (I have seen at least one video where a blade was referred to as v2 bt had a pointed tip. Possibly that was retrofitted) both clear and whitish used in this version. Internal diffuser which is rolled up "plastic" material of some kind.

v3
Glue on pointed tip, whitish material. internal diffuser is a thicker material (I've only seen it from the edge and not removed)

v4
Screwed and glued pointed tip, whitish material. internal diffuser (I have not yet seen outside the blade.)

And feel free to tell me I'm crazy. I've got none of this in hand except what I describe as v1 and an internal diffuser that Phil sent me to help with color mixing in a very old 2 color LED.

I've got a v3. Glued on tip and thickish glued in diffusing film.

Yup, that's what my V3 consists of, and the tip has come loose once. I have not glued it down yet, but that is coming the next time it budges.
