I am new to ordering light sabers and I came to saber forge because of their unique designs. I feel like ultra sabers are very simple, so I went and ordered 2 saber forge hilts. Just the hilt, no blade or sound or color. Does it still take the 8-10 week lead time? Or is it quicker because its just the hilt? I'm so excited I can barley wait! I ordered January 27th so the 8 week mark is approaching soon!!!!!! Thanks!!!!

Hello Biground and Welcome to the Forum.
As formalities go it is encouraged that you Post a New Members Introduction here and also an acknowledgement Post in Rules. Noting the question you have raised it will be extremely worth your while to have a read of the Forum's FAQs also.

The confirmation email you received from Saberforge after you completed your order will contain the estimated Lead Time for you. Ordinarily it would be much quicker when it is just the Hilt without LED or Sound however it is important to note that other factors (like existing production backlogs) need to be considered which may result in different times.

Please note: As New Members your first 10 Posts require Approval by Moderators.
This may sometimes shift the time stamp of your Posts. Mods are pretty active here and will process them quickly. A valuable resource also (other than Posting a Topic) is to try the Search Tab as often questions have been similarly asked before. Enjoy your time here and remember, FAQs Thread is a friend. ;)

If I had known it was a 12-14 week lead time, I would not have ordered. At the time I ordered, I checked these forums and everyone was saying 6-8 week lead time. I waited several days and still found a 6-8 week lead time. When I ordered I expected a 6-8 week lead time as that was the last update that was posted on these forums.

So I ordered and my email said 12-14 weeks lead time. I was very upset, the amount of money I spent and I have to wait that long. If I had known, I would have ordered from somewhere else. Its just too long.

Oh well, hope they are worth it.

I find the wait worth it, SF makes the best hilts overall that I have come across.

Forums make the wait much easier and more fun.

Hey Serisscweald, I am also finding the lead time frustrating, but they have increased production facility, so it could be shorter than quoted.
I've recently had a demonstration event added to my calendar, and this is my first saber. I'm banking on it turning up in time.

For me the most frustrating bit is the inconsistency, some people are getting four, six, eight or ten week lead times. There is no recourse except patience unfortunately.

I ordered four sabers and over almost $500.

The lead times on the forums at the time I ordered were being quoted at 6-8 weeks. I don't understand how the order system there works. Its very inconsistent and little frustrating. I really hope there is a better system being put into place, this very well might be my last order from SF. I just can't take the wait. Its too long for the amount of money I spent.

Serisscweald.
I can imagine your frustration regarding Lead Times. It is important to note that you and I and many others are paddling the very same boat with waiting. Regardless of unit quantity or value of total purchase, Saberforge is endeavouring to deliver the respective products to each of their respective Owners. Lead Times are only estimates and not a Guarantee.

Shy of 3 weeks ago, Moderator Brax reposted Knytiri's update commenting on the sheer volume of orders current to production here. With high demand and equally high volume being received, more units as orders were being received than sufficient units were completed to ship. Saberforge remained hopeful that the Factory expansion would alleviate this. We can only trust this information as accurate also. Granted Lead Time estimates vary. Main Site currently reads 8-10 Weeks.

The latest piece of information received (courtesy of esxdave in Wait Begins! 3.0 Thread) was production relativity was current to orders received January 1st. We can only conclude that this news is current and accurate also. If you are concerned about your Order with the time that has passed, an email to Customer Service may provide a more definitive answer. However I strongly believe the response would also be an estimate.

You had faith with choosing Saberforge, faith with making a selection and faith with completing an order. As you wrote,
So I ordered and my email said 12-14 weeks lead time. I was very upset, the amount of money I spent and I have to wait that long. If I had known, I would have ordered from somewhere else. Its just too long.
you still had faith by choosing to wait knowing the conflict of information of lead times.

Perhaps continue with that faith and trust that it will happen. Afterall, you have waited so far already.

Thanks for the understanding OvrcAHst. I am sure the sabers are going to be top notch. I have no doubts. I have watched all of the review videos I could find.

I understand some people go into the store and purchase sabers and have them within a day or so. But I have seen several people with sabers that have just came out and I had my order in weeks before. Its just frustrating due to not knowing how the process works or how certain orders are decided.

And since I have 4 sabers on order, is it going to take longer due to order size? None of them have sounds, will that change the order times? The information is just vague. Almost to the point of being counter-productive when needing information.

I can't wit for my sabers, don't get me wrong, I think I am going to be happy with them. I saw the email that was posted and how the amount of orders are increasing while the production is less than the intake. I understand that, maybe it is what it is and I just need to deal with it. However, its not very often a consumer has to wait several months for a product that has been bought and paid for in a industry such as this.

Maybe I am just being to impatient. All I know is, I dished out a lot of money, and I don't have any answers.

All of that being said, I still am very excited at the idea of having these sabers.

@Serisscweald.. I totally get your frustration, but the reality is as frustrated as we are this is the 2nd fastest saber maker on the net. And it may be the fastest as US is up to 16 week waits. And no your not being impatient, getting pissed because lead times were do short until you ordered. Then went up to 6 weeks past what you saw on the site. If you just ordered in the last week or so be because they lost their lead CSR who did this stuff. And now the CSRs seem to be in limbo. I just ordered a 2nd saber and either screwed up or computer error on the order and it's been 4 days since I sent an e-mail asking them to weather my Sabers' hilt. Before this happened the longest wait I had for an e-mail reply was 1 day. And saber fever just sucks!!!!!

To put the wait into numbers I'll quote some earlier threads.

SF original production center can handle making 200-250 sabers a day. That is 1000-1250 sabers a week. They receive orders of 1300-1500 hundred new sabers a week. You see the issue. They built a new manufacturing center that should be going online soon allowing them to increase their productivity.

Additionally I read somewhere that they anticipated 200-500 asp orders during the Kickstarter/indigogo and got over 10,000. They are just a little swamped and doing their best to catch up.

I personally would rather high wait times then a decrease of quality.

PS I'm on week 5 of my wait.

There are smiths out there whose wait list actually stretches into years. People still place orders with them, because they are willing to pay the $1000-$2000 that they charge, and because they want a saber from that company. We come to SF because we have decided that, for our budget, they offer what we want. We order, knowing it will take weeks to get what we ordered. Granted, the number of weeks fluctuates due to manufacturing capacity, and parts availability, and we don't always know when things change. They are working on that aspect of the business.

In the end, you will get what you ordered and the likelihood is that you will absolutely love what you receive. It's not just patience that is required to make it through the wait time, it is trust. Trust that you have not thrown your hard earned cash at a "fly by night" outfit that will somehow not live up to their end of the bargain. I think there are a lot of us here that can attest that they are for real, and that your trust is not misplaced.

When the Etsy store returns, the goal is to have ready made sabers that will ship the same, or the following business day. When that happens, they will have wait times that coincide with the level of customization you desire. I look forward to that day, so that customers of all levels of patience will be able to get what they want. Until then, we are along for the ride.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

The Etsy thing sounds awesome.
The wait is hard, but I've heard of a couple of saber smiths who have literally put a hold on ANY orders at all as they try to meet their backlog.
I honestly don't believe a lightsaber is worth thousands, (except if it really worked...) so Saberforge seem to be the best value for money, or rather bang for your buck.

I ordered via the Etsy site and just started week 8 of my wait time. I completely understand the frustration. But watching review videos and reading the SF forums helps the time go by.

The same thing happened to me I barely knew about saberforge for a week before I knew I had to have the viper and when I ordered I got the 12-14 week lead time in the email but it looked like something automatically attached to the email and later I was on the website again and I saw the 6-8 week lead time in the faq so I emailed them and they said the faq always has the most current lead time.

The wait is simply worth the superior quality for the reasonable cost.

Agreed, I personally prefer quality over quantity. I want my sabers done right, if I need to wait 2 months to get the best possible product then I will. I would be more concerned if they arrived quicker.

They answer from time to time on a non regular basis. If the question is too complicated the person in charge of customer service leaves a mark for Phil to answer. When that happens, you might have to might a while, like a long while for an answer!
