If nothing else, it's a step closer.

That said, glad I ordered last week :P

It's not just the price of the hilts that has increased. There has been a tier cost increase, as well. Warrior tier on Apprentice hilts used to be an additional $55 (if I remember correctly, and please correct me if I'm wrong), which is now $100, and the $205 price point for Champion tiers increased from $205 to $250. I didn't check on Hero tiers, but I would assume that they have increased, as well.

While I don't begrudge SF raising their prices (supply and demand, and all that, so good for them!), I'm certainly glad that I got my Bastion ordered when I did. This will, however, make it more difficult for me to save enough for a Fury one day. Perhaps the prices will come back down some day once the market for these stabilizes and their expansion/remodel is completed.

Specs of compared orders:

Fury Hero Edition
Hilt Finish: Weathered
Belt Clasp: None
First Blade Color: RGBA
Second Blade Color: RGBA
Blade Type: Saber 37 inch
Sound: Spark Color + In hilt recharge
Saber Stand: Phoenix

All the more reason for me to have like 4-5 3d designs done well and learn how to add lights and sound myself.

From what I observed, I don't know how you're getting those numbers. I checked both the Warrior and Champion tiers with the new Fallen (just a random Elite saber, $149 at Initiate tier). Warrior tier gave me $220 rather than the old $204, which is (obviously) a difference of $16. Same with Champion, an increase of $16.

However, as I wrote this, I realized that you may be referring to the addition of 12w+ (still says 12w). That would bring the total add on to $46, however, as that was a former price to pay before the increase, I didn't count it.

The hero tier just went up over $125... was just about to pull the trigger on a hero monarch, but now I might just go initiate tier and contract out some customization and having the electronics added. I can't justify dropping over $800 just for a production saber...

Problem is I don't think the monarch is normal wiring job.

We knew the increases were coming. We just didn't know the extent. I personally have no interest in hero tiers so that doesn't bother me. As fans of the product that SF creates, if the increase prices mean more employees which will lead to quicker wait times, I am personally all for it. Their eventual goal could be 4-6 weeks wait time. If hiring more people means for that to happen, a price increase is a welcome sight.

4-6 WEEKS!?!

That would be downright amazing, especially considering how that'd take away sales from competition. That's only a week or two off of Ultrasaber's wait times.

I wasn't checking the prices of Elite sabers. The price check I did was on the Bastion, because that's what I just ordered, so I had all of the old pricing information on it. However, as a musician, I am quick to point out that I regularly count to 4 over and over and over, so higher math doesn't like me very much.

*EDIT* Actually, I'm an idiot. The orders are defaulting on the 12w LED option, which adds $30 to the sticker price. I was looking at $325 for a baseline apprentice, and with a $75 hilt that's a $250 tier cost. However, take away the $30 and drop down to a 6w LED, and the tier cost is $220. That's only a $15 increase from the previous cost.

Bastion ordered last week:

Bastion Warrior Edition
Hilt Finish Standard
Belt Clasp Covertech System
Blade Color Arctic Blue
Blade LED Power 12W
Blade Type Staff 32 inch
LED Quick Connects Quick Connects
Saber Stand None

Total: 154

Bastion in same configuration now:
195

Only difference is the added "+" after 12W in the options.

Not complaining, citing a specific example to show. We all knew it was coming.

Totally relate, man. Sometimes it's 3, or 6, or 2. Heck, sometimes it's back and forth from one to another. Those suck.

That's funny, I saw 2-4 quoted somewhere as their goal, I think, and then Etsy of course would be just about instant in its new configuration. I could be wrong though.

Well again, if higher prices mean quicker lead times then I 100% support SF in their plans.

I agree. Prices going up are inevitable after having a huge expansion like SF has had over the last 6-8 months. The biggest costs to a company are it's rent and employees. And if spending a few more dollars means decreased lead times (under 6 weeks would be fantastic) then so be it. Less waiting is always a good thing.

I'm hesitant to get excited about unannounced lead time reductions, at least in the near future. I know Joshua alluded to it, but the company has been and remains in flux (as attested to in no small part by his departure). The price change could purely reflect overhead for company costs. But I'm the type that likes to violently beat down my expectations so that I can be pleasantly surprised if proven wrong.
