Hey all. Not sure if this might be normal or not so would loke to hear if anyone has experienced it. Just got my epoch hero and its awesome!
Only thing is that occasionally, usually after pressing tbe deflector sound button and waving side to side the blade will just shit down on its own and the power button flashes quickly. Sometimes i can restart right away. Sometimes it just keeps flashing and i have to put the kill key in.
Could the sound board be coming off the battery wire for a split second? I have sent a message to customer service but thought i would check with other users as perhaps i am just doing something stupid

Does the issue happen when you use one of your other sound fonts? I had an issue like this where, when using custom sounds, I forgot to format them properly and certain ones would cause the board to crash and require a reboot. It's possible one of your deflection noises has this issue, but that's just my first impression.

This is with the fonts that came originally with it. I have only had it one day and have not removed the board or altered anything

Hi Macfly, Snakeeyz99,

Does the power button flash a rapid blue colour? If so I may have an idea what may be the cause.

kind regards,

Yes!
It does. And that what is strange. Sometimes i can press it again and it will shut down; other times pressing it in does nothing. Like the electronics are all locked up.
Inserting tbe kill key resets it and all works again

Hi Macfly,

Now I am being cautious as I'm not an expert in this but it sounds as if your SD card inside the hilt could have slipped and isn't making proper contact or may need some other attention.

To be on the safe side you might want to email SaberForge and explain the behaviour of your saber and mention it may be the card and see what they say back. I wouldn't do anything till you hear back from them.

This way you won't make the issue any worse than it is. Hopefully it may just need the card to be re-inserted into it's holder but get confirmation and instruction from SF first, ok?

I hope this helps,

Hi Macfly,

As I say I am not an expert, but have heard about the flashing blue power switch which MAY indicate that the soundboard can't read the SD card properly which may affect the function of your saber.

But I will repeat you will be best served to wait for a reply from Customer Service before doing anything.

Reading through the manual for the soundboard would be advised to ensure you fully understand it and how it works, though don't try fixing anything till you get your reply.

Again I hope you get this issue resolved quickly, though be aware it may take a few days to get a reply from the CS team.

kind regards,

Thanks so much. It does seem likely because its only after vigorous shaking that it cuts out.

Hi Macfly,

Ok, now exercise a little patience and follow SaberForge's instructions and hopefully we will have solved the issue for you.
While you are waiting you could entertain yourself by reading some of the Fiction Stories that fellow members Borommakot and Kered have posted or check out the ASP Design threads. I will keep an eye on this thread and see how you get on.

kind regards,

For Tyeth

P.S. As a little reminder to New and Established members, don't forget to check out the FAQ's every now and then, as a refresher can always help!

Hi lararevan,

Firstly welcome to the forum! Regarding your issues with your Epoch, I would suggest you follow the instructions I gave to Macfly above^^. Make sure you have a fully charged battery and are following the instruction leaflet you received with your Saber. The problem appears to be similar, so if it doesn't clear itself then I would send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to explain your difficulties. Give as much information as possible to help them troubleshoot the problem and find the cause.

Again I will say I am not an expert and don't try to fix anything before you have had a reply from SaberForge giving you instructions on what to do. Be aware Customer Services may take 2-3 days to reply, but they will get back to you.

As a New Member may I also direct you to the FAQ'S and Forum Rules pages. These will give you a lot of answers to basic questions you may have and help you get the most out of this great site. A link to these pages is here:

Try taking the memory card out and putting it in again. My problem seems to have resolved. Probably just a loose connection
