TOPIC: Saber Forge is having a giveaway!

No worries. That statement was not specifically intended for you. More of a general thing for folks who have expressed..."concerns" that the result of these developments will, or has already had a detrimental effect on the lead time for their own order.

This will be my first saber. Unless you count the plastic extend-o-blade Hasbro I got as a gag gift for Christmas this year. To underscore that, I'm 33 years old. I currently sit at my desk and make lightsaber noises while I check the status of my order...12 times/day.

That being said, I bought a SF saber on their merit and reputation alone. I have never held one of their products. Unlike those of you whom have purchased and received multiple sabers from SF, the WAIT is all I have at the moment. I believe that my frustrations, if not justified and warranted, are at least understandable.

Add to this the fact that the only one of SF's employees who gave the forum any attention at all isn't here anymore (due to differences of opinion), and you have a recipe for discontent among the community.

I will henceforth refrain from any "wait hate" posts, and will instead invest in some fine adult beverages.

Believe me when I say, I do understand how you feel. I am a customer too, after all. I have a saber on order right now, in fact, and I have set my expectations to "it will be here when it is done". This longer lead time (whatever the exact reason for it), affects me as well.

Just to put things into a little perspective, there is only 1 saber outfit that can get you a saber faster than SF (even at the current lead time), and sabers from there tend to be more "off the shelf". Not that there is anything wrong with that, but if you want something more refined, this wait is still very acceptable in comparison. I know for a fact there are smiths out there whose wait list is YEARS. Granted, they are totally custom, but as you can see...the higher you reach, the more you pay, the longer you wait.

One thing I do know, when you receive yours from SF, all of that time will fall away, and all you will see is that saber.

Falnore, Given the content of this Thread perhaps an alternate outlet you mightn't had considered is to submit a written entry to participate in the Giveaway? Who knows, you may be fortunate and lucky enough to be selected and you will become steps closer to getting your Arctic Blue as the alternate to your Cyan Bastion. Trust in the confidence that spawned your first order and try not to falter from it as you and many others (within the Forum and outside of) endure the wait.

Screw it. Ordering the Ka'Tano...brb.

Brax, I've notice that you refer to this other company by, "1 saber outfit". Is it not okay to say "Ultrasabers" on this forum anymore, or am I reading too much into your word choice?

Entered the giveaway with my first SF Saber purchase! I think I'm grateful that the ASP isn't live to the public yet (even though I'm super anxious for it to release). Although my chances to win a prize are slim, they'd likely be even slimmer had the giveaway and ASP release coincided.

Sent in my letter today and told a friend of mine to do it also. If you happen to win the grand prize but are not interested in the Crystal Chamber Bane saber, would you ask to have a substitute and what would you pick? There is a small clause that SF has this right at their discretion so it's a possibility in theory.

I would probably do an Exhalted Hero which would be under the value of the grand prize CC Bane. Just a thought to hopefully add to this thread. Not everyone may be interested in the CC Bane.

I'm sure there could be something negotiated. I guess if you really don't like it you could try to sell it to someone and then use that money to buy what you wanted. Seems backwards, but it could be a second resort.

I'm thinking of entering with a Sentinel, weathered version with Crimson Stingray wrap, Red 12W+, Crimson. It's a nice hilt that I was planning to get some stage anyway.

I did! Well, it was more of a good timing sort of thing. I had been teetering on the edge of buying or not buying for awhile and getting the email from SF pushed me over the edge. I can only assume I'm entered in that I ordered on the 13th, but there was no separate email or anything.
