Hello everyone. I had some questions before pulling the trigger at my first Saber Initiate hilt.

#1 I was wondering if I get the initiate drilled for Hero Tier where the third hole would be? I've looked through all the pictures on the website and cannot see how it is by default. (for recharge port and two 12mm A/V switches)

#2 Is the dual handed hilt comfortable for single OR dual handed transitions and dueling?

#3 Is this two halves when taken apart?

#4 What is the Internal Diameter so I can get a 3D Chassis compatible with this hilt.

Thank you all very much for your consideration and time.

SF isn't taking any special requests at the moment such as having additional holes drilled in Initiates. If you want to pursue this the best course would be emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and seeing if/when they might start taking modification requests again.
#2 Is the dual handed hilt comfortable for single OR dual handed transitions and dueling?
Hard to say until it's in the wild. Here's a link to a preview vid that might address this:
#3 Is this two halves when taken apart?
Sort of. The pommel and the emitter can be screwed off.
#4 What is the Internal Diameter so I can get a 3D Chassis compatible with this hilt.
Your best bet is PMing Jordan as this sort of info is hard to come by until more people have it.

Well...only a couple people have the Vanquish. You'll be fairly hard-pressed to find all of the answers to these questions at this time. However, you can get an idea of the answers you'll get from the current pictures.

2. The grip seems to be larger with a more gradual curve than the Bane, so it would appear to be well suited to both single and dual handed dueling.
3. It's a single saber. There's a picture floating around of the emitter, body and pommel separated for full ASP compatability, but it isn't two separate sabers. You'd need to buy two Vanquish sabers or a Vanquish and another saber to make a staff.
4. Again, it is a curved hilt, so it might not support a 3-D Chassis.

Eddlyss64 your reply to #3 ? Darth Cycon was asking if the hilt body section comes apart in two halves, similar to the Bane, hence the seem down the spine and belly of the hilt.

Okay, I thought he was referring to the saber's ability to be split into two smaller sabers. I did say that it works like an ASP saber with Emitter, Body and Pommel sections as separate parts, not like the Bane with a spine and base underpart. So I did basically answer the question, anyhow. Thanks for the clarification, though. :)

Saberforge has designed their curved hilts to come apart in halves. That is the only way they are able to get the electronics inside. This picture is CAD render of what was to be the Count. This saber never made production, but shows how the parts are designed to construct a curved hilt. Similar to the Bane, and now the Vanquish.

Sort of. They're revamping their curved builds by capping the bodies with threading:

This means the seam is much smaller and you can swap out the emitter and pommel.

I don't mean to start an argument here, but this:

is a picture of the Vanquish saber with its pommel and emitter removed and the body left alone, something that is impossible for the Bane to perform. This makes me think that the body is compatible with ASP parts as well as stock installs and custom installs without splitting the body open.

EDIT: Ninja'd by h2soy.

Eddlyss64 I originally posted this picture. I'm well aware of the ASP compatibility, but that has nothing to do with my reply to your post. If you look closely this saber has a seem. Darth Cycon asked if this hilt comes apart in halves. I was trying to point out that you misunderstood his question, and tried to explain why.

Also the Vanquish appears large enough to have Quick Connect whereas the Bane is not. Or at least the store page shows QC are purchasable for the Vanquish.

I guess that explains the Bane 2.0 redesign, aside from aesthetics.

Since part of the top "cap" piece includes the switch section, I wonder if they'll do a curved hilt where the body between the caps is wrapped to hide the seam.

Was that the reason? I thought it was an issue of having to take the hilt apart to access the LED (like the thin necks).

I've cracked my Bane open and it's not a space issue but rather an accessibility issue. Like the TNs you'd have to gut the hilt in order to change out the LED.

If it is an accessibility issue, then how come the Vanquish lets you purchase QC? Or is it just that the store page is not correctly updated for the Vanquish? I may be wrong about the space then.

I imagine with the curved hilt redesign they have a LED set screw in the emitter like other QC enabled sabers.

Agreed, the design was smart, in that they made the Vanquish ASP compatible. Looking forward to the redesign 2.0 Bane.

Saw the mk2 bane picture... Looks great. Phil states that the mk2 banes wont be released till the mk1's are all sold out.

Wonder how long that will be. Maybe when the Etsy shop returns with ready to ship sabers the mk1 Bane could be one of them. But hopefully they update the website picture before the switch.

Thanks guys I have emailed This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. around 48 hours ago and unfortunately have not gotten a reply yet. I asked them the same questions. As h2soy said I hope the do drill for hero tier on initiate and this is the first I've heard that they aren't doing it. I will reply here as to what I get with a reply from SF if any.

If they don't drill for hero tier I am looking to get two 12mm A/V switches and a recharge port any ideas on how to do a recharge port without drilling into my hilt besides unscrewing the pommel all the time?
Or I just might wait to by my saber or go elsewhere (which I'd rather not do) if they can't accommodate me on the drilling.

Got a reply from Saberforge:

Hello,
Firstly we don't yet have any pictures of the Hero tier Vanquish, and apologize we are unable to show you where that extra hole would be. That said, we are able to drill an initiate tier for Hero. While we are not currently taking custom orders, this extra drilling is considered a standard request on initiates (as is requesting the parts be unglued, if you should so desire).

This hilt is specifically designed for dual handed use, so we cannot guarantee how comfortable you will find. However, we have had people here use it for single handed use and found it satisfactory.

The hilt is two halves, just like the Bane.

Hope this helps, may the Forge be with you!
Isha
