There has been some inconsistencies with information provided by SFCS versus what Owners have reportedly having successfully achieved. The confusion surrounding the 'All Black Hilt' Finish and how to achieve it (after receiving a final reply from SFCS) has been determined. ASP or Custom Shop are the only ways it can be done. Inserting the request on Order Notes (Main Site/Etsy) will not be accommodated/return success even though this very process has yielded success in the past. I can only conclude that this process remains selectively available rather open to all.
Hello! In the past we were offering a black finish through simply making the request on the order notes. Unfortunately, in an effort to streamline the ordering process and shorten lead times as much as possible we are no longer offering custom finish options outside of what we have listed on the website. We apologize for the inconvenience, and what seems like an inconsistency. Unfortunately this is not an option we are offering any longer.
That said, you can place an ASP order via Indiegogo, the parts selection does include black parts. However, the Father's day promotion is only valid on orders placed on the main website, not ASP orders. Thank you, and may the Forge be with you. Above ^^ is the reply received today to an email sent June 15. A previous email sent April 21 enquiring about this process with request for verification returned the reply as No. After reading a Review** about the success of the process and which Hilts were eligible, a further email was sent for verification.
**However, I was told that if I ordered a saber, and put "All black finish" in the order notes, then that is what I would get! I was not sure it would really work, especially since ASP would offer that option, and the Custom Shop (when it reopens) would do things like that as well. However, I am here to tell you, and show you that this is for real, and you can do it too. The catch is, the "all black" option is only available on the following sabers:
Alleged eligible Sabers have been omitted.If this Finish appeals to you and you wish to have it realised, if not exercised via the two stated methods (ASP/Custom) and you choose to insert a request in Order Notes, there is no guarantee that it will be supplied or what will be received in place of. This is understood as accurate and correct as SFCS processes the Order. |

The list you are referring to, was from the Dark Reliant review correct? If this is the case it makes sense, because all of these Sabers are constructed with ASP part now, except the Bane, Black Lotus.

Correct. Forgive me for asking, but how does this make sense? The eligible List that allegedly was only available to included:
Additionally, what doesn't make sense is the explanation that it has been 'discontinued' in an attempt to streamline the process and shorten Lead Times. When opting for the All-Black Finish it reduces the process by one step so essentially becomes a contradiction. Perhaps I am having difficulty comprehending something and welcome your comments if you'd care to explain it. |

The make sense comment is based on the fact that the list of sabers are available in black because, all of them are ASP. Finish options are available in black through ASP correct? With exception of the Bane and black lotus. So don't order via the main site if you want any of these sabers in KIWI finish. I'm aware that there's no option on the main sight to guarantee receiving ALL BLACK finish on just any saber. Hence my comment, Does this make sense?

Yes HotRod someone did, but they ordered it through SaberForge Customs. Once the custom shop opens again, any saber not on the list can get the black finish!

I have requested clarification on this from my back-channel resource. As soon as I hear something, I will report back. If it turns out that the information I was given was not consistent with company policy, then I will remove that information from my review, and expunge the same information from the FAQ.

I am confident your existing info is correct, Brax. I remembered the Bastion being a custom job. I love this finish though. I finally found an excuse to get it in the ASP offering.

I honestly can't see the reason why black is not an available colour option, as it's a step in their weathering process. And why the apprentice sabers aren't on the list. A black Oracle would be so cool.

   Kind of. Have been a little sleep deprived lately with a visiting 7Month Old and I'm not even the parent. For the moment (until Brax can Officially authenticate it) we are in agreement that KIWI Finish can't be got (according to SFCS) when Ordering from Main Site.Agreed, Yes Black is available through ASP, this wasn't challenged. The Exclusive List Hilts being logical as Black because of ASP still doesn't esplain  why it's limited to just those though. I digress. It's kind of pointless yammering-on about something until whether it definitely can or definitely can't is discovered. I shall put this (for now) in the Folder labelled: Acceptance without understanding Why.

None of the Apprentice sabers were on the list I published. However, when the Custom shop re-opens for orders, it would be possible that way. I am just not sure when that will happen. |

Saberforge has a custom shop that allows you to order one of their hilts and then have their technicians customize it to your liking. Right now the custom shop is focused on clearing the ASP backlog and what ever other backlog they have so are not taking any additional commissions.

The Custom Shop is a small group of SaberForge smiths who were 100% dedicated to creating customized sabers. You would contact them via e-mail, work with them on the details of your saber, and the customizations you wanted (and almost anything you could think of was do-able, including custom electronics, finishes, etc), and when you and they were in agreement on the job, and the price they set for it, they would do it.
That shop shifted from custom sabers, to assisting in the completion of the ASP/IGG rewards program in the last few months. However, the plan was to re-dedicate themselves to the custom saber effort once that was completed. They previously anticipated getting back to the work of customization by July, but there has not been any recent word if that timeline is still feasible. We are all waiting for them to start accepting orders again, and getting back to the work of creating some of the most amazing sabers I have ever seen.
