So, against my better judgement and to the dismay of my bank account I think I'm gonna take advantage of the Father's Day sales, and I think I'm gonna get one (or both) crossguard sabers.

This specific topic is to ask what do you guys think would look best on the Templar in standard finish with the Black Stingray wrap out of Yellow, Amber, Mint Green and Lime Green. I want to go for one of the more "exotic" colours, as I have several Blues, Greens and Reds on the way already.

I know its all on personal preference but I would like to hear a general consensus on these colours :)

Hmmm... that's a tough one. Like you said, it comes down to personal preference. I own a saber with a lime green blade, and it's one of my favorites. It has almost a radioactive, rakghoul green thing going on, which I find unique. But for the hilt you are planning on, a would probably do a yellow blade personally. Hope this helps :)

Haha, oddly enough out of these 4 colours Lime Green and Yellow were my two favourites for this one, but I think as I already have 2 normal greens coming, I'll go for somthing totally different and get a Lime Green at a later date, and a Yellow on this one.

And yeah, this did help, thanks :D

I love your enthusiasm. I second Yellow or Amber. Can't wait to see it.

A crossguard saber with yellow blades. Hmmm. Sounds very interesting...

My Templar is weathered, Dark Red Leather wrap and red LED.

Yellow sounds most interesting!

I'll throw a spanner in the works and suggest amber. According to the LED colour thread posted by OvrcAst, amber has more of a golden yellow (like beer!) tint and yellow has a slight greenish tint to it.

I'd throw my two cents in for amber.

My thoughts exactly, and personally I'm no huge fan of weathering on the Templar. Or more specifically, I'm no fan of it for a saber I would want to own. I tend to feel this way about the weathering on a large amount of SF sabers, I like it on other peoples, but I prefer the normal silver. There are of course exceptions, such as the Relic, which looks cool both ways.

I agree that Amber would also be a very cool colour, however my main misgivings about it for this particular saber are that Yellow seems to be more toward the lightside-but-still-kinda-neutral I want for this one, and in the future there are a few sabers that I would like to get amber in, among which are the Archon and the Phoenix. That will be a long while away though, unless anything crazy new comes up I will be saving up money for a while and waiting for all these sabers to get here.

You and me both, should be an interesting difference to the standard red crossguards. I think the Relic suits the red better anyway, but that's just me.

Thanks for the replies everyone, and as you may guess from this, I have chosen Yellow, because the way I'm imagining it seems like a colour combination that A: Wont have been used much (if at all) before, and B: Something very different to the norm, which is kinda what I wanted from this saber, since all of my others have been the basic Greens, Reds and Blues (except whatever random saber comes from the May the 4th deal) Also, if ever there was a time to get crossguards or crystal sabers, its on sale haha. I appreciate why they are so much more pricey, but I'm making sure I get the most out of my money here.

How about this. See if you could get Amber main blade, and Lime green side blades? Something different!

Just a suggestion, because the main site doesn't offer it with QC's. Worth an email though!

TGA, I agree with the majority towards Amber (personally love that colour) or to say Red as a seemingly obvious choice, now as you've written you'll be opting for Yellow, purely with the brilliance of illumination over three blades and the Standard Finish have you considered Frost White? Otto raises a solid suggestion that may be worth exploring and with entertaining the thought imagine something like Amber Main with Yellow secondary/tertiary. It's been reported as something that 'can' be accommodated, in addition to your possible enquiry for different side blades, perhaps a Custom configured LED also?

Oh damn, that sounds crazy. I'm not sure that I want two different colours coming from it, as I'm one of those guys who likes to have a reason why a saber functions like it does, and I'm not sure I can see how the colour of the sideguards could change, but it would make for a very unique saber. Even though I've basically rebutted your suggestion, I would like to say it is a very interesting one, and one I might explore later down the line with a custom project.

Frost White is again an interesting colour, but also one that I feel I want to reserve for other hilts. "Obvious" one that comes to mind is the silver knight, but also I've been building some ASP hilts centering around a white LED, and to avoid my collection looking too "samey" I'd rather avoid it here.

 Sorry that you seemed settled on Yellow and then the flood of Amber votes came in. :-) I agree that two different colors would be a bit off to me. Also, I am a HUGE fan of the Frost White LED, but I will also tell you that color to me seems to work with very specific hilts (especially those that have emitter windows). I personally would have a tough time seeing it on a Templar (not saying it wouldn't be awesome...maybe weathered and dark red leather wrapped). Anyway, I the big question is what do you think? :-)

Haha, yeah it does seem that way, but I've got my reasons for not going for Amber, and Yellow will still look fantastic in my opinion :) It's still nice seeing what people think, and I'm not denying an Amber crossguard will look sweet if anyone ends up with one, but I just think Yellow is a colour I'm not gonna use on a whole lot of sabers and will make this one all the more special.

In terms of the White, as I said to Ovrc, I agree with you that it goes with specific hilts only, and I do have plans for the colour, probably next year that those will be realised in the form of an acutal purchase however.

For now though, just another saber to look forward to, even though I likely won't see it until Christmas, since I'll most likely be back at uni when it gets delivered... Although I might just get the train back one weekend if it gets delivered during term time.

TGA my reasoning for the different colors, was based on the functionality of the cross guard hilt, and a possible over site to it's design. The cross guards are an exhaust for and unstable crystal, or in the case of Kylos, a cracked synthetic crystal. Since the tertiary emitters are exhausting unstable energy, then why not be a color close too the spectrum of the main blade. Maybe that can help you grasp my 2 color cross guard theory. Good luck with your descion, it yours to make. Opinions were requested and offered, not concerned that my offering has been rebutted. MTFBWY

That is actually a pretty good reasoning. Well thought out Otto. I think in the case of these colours none are close enough in colour to really work for it however, especially with my aversion to Amber in this hilt for one I want to own, different blues or green would work better. I think in terms of saberforge colours it may not work all that well if not using blues or greens, but with more customisable LEDs I think it would be a very good idea, although I'm no expert on how the electronics of such work, and if I ever do that sort of thing I would need to research it quite a lot.

TGA I think your color choice will look good with the finish and wrap that you spoke of. Look forward to your review in time. B)
