Well just a few moments ago I pulled the trigger and ordered the Monarch. with the 10% off and ordered a covertech belt clip and a 12w+ LED kept me over $500 mark so I will be getting a Free Apprentice saber. But the offer is kinda vague. Now do I just get the Saber or do I get all the what was offered? And do we get a choice in what saber we get or is it just random. and will their be electronics in it. Oh well personally I don't care. I like the fact I'm getting another saber in the deal. I'm glad I waited. As on my receipt. I have an 8-10 wait. So my wait has officially begun again.

I am ordering two 32' Oracle duel sabers (Champ) with features that puts me over $500.

the Free Apprentice Saber will be my longer blade, but I have a few questions on this...

Is it just the hilt? does it come with a blade (aside from the "day blade")? does it have electronics? sound/no sound?

Thanks in advance

Word on the Street is (Saberforge Facebook), the Free Hilt is a Random (what jonnys95s10 wrote in Post below) Apprentice Saber Initiate Tier. All there is on the inside is a whole lot of hollow goodness. Apparently, if your desire is to enable inclusion as Warrior or above you need to contact SFCS to pay the difference to achieve it.

Sooo... Xiphos. Other than the description of: re-release of one piece Gladius, anyone have a picture reference, 'cos I don't know what you're talkin' 'bout?

May be wrong, but I believe these are pics of the original Gladius design, which only came in one piece (no way to open it) and I would assume the new saber is a spruced up redesign of that:

In fact, according to the sale post I nicked theese pictures from, the electronics were accessible, through a little screw-in port in the back of the pommel. Obviously, I would imagine a re-release would feature a proper removable pommel like current SF offerings, although I have no way to confirm it.

I used to have one of these and from what I remember, the angled piece below the pommel was removable.

Thanks for the info. The Xiphos sounds interesting, though I like the newer Gladius much better than the older model shown above. I'm anxious to see this new apprentice-level saber and how it compares to the current Gladius. This gives me a nice excuse to wait. :)

I've been very tempted to order a grey-weathered Gladius hilt, maybe even shattered, as a host to install my own parts. Aside from being pretty, it would be a lot more appropriate for serious dueling than what I have now.

I priced out what it would take to do the install myself versus having SF do it (on sale), and the difference in cost was virtually zero, about $380 total either way. It just means that a self-install would let me change the sound fonts (NBv3 board) and be easier to modify later, while a SF install would come with an extra blade and probably a bunch of mod-unfriendly black goop inside.

Specifically pondering possibly getting a royal blue emitter with a photon blade and a red day blade, which would let me swap between blue, green, and purple-core red by switching blades. That last one is an interesting effect:

Sorry for the off-topic post. I'm just excited to see the new Xiphos. :)

I want to say Yes however there's no definite accuracy with that. It would make sense though since Day Blades form part of it and the Stands are the newer types that are in circulation now. The older Apprentice/Elite Blade Plugs I dare say have become a collectible now.

This is the Weathered (V2) Xiphos you get FREE (when eligibility criteria is met).

Here's a Gladius v1. I'm assuming the Xiphos will be pretty similar, but I hope they've added more detail.

It's definitely a clearer resolution image as similarly shown by TheGrandAdmiral's image(s) Post. I read (Custom Saber Owners Facebook) that all of the Xiphos' are Weathered Finish with Black Leather Wrap. The image I Posted above was from an Owners recent delivery and above the Xiphos was a pair of GrandMaster's (just cut-off). The Owner had an Unboxing Video Posted as well. I tried since to look for the reference Post again but as I'm not a subscriber, could only see a limited number of Posts and Xiphos wasn't included in the window. I'd say the V1 would be the version either former-named or renamed and maybe a whole buckets load was found stashed in one corner during a cleaning-house and it became the flavour for the FREE Initiate?

It is a much better picture. Looks like it uses the same pommel as the Gladius or ASP. I could imagine as this wasn't a offering as being training for the new staff since the operation has expanded so quickly. Having made so many and getting good results just offering them as freebies for larger orders seems reasonable to me.

Oh, nice. I didn't realize it was an actual photograph! It looked like a computer render. :)

I'm really glad they made the pommel's end cap smaller compared to Gladius v1. That huge end cap was awkward. I hope the cap can unscrew, which (IIRC) wasn't the case on the older model. Looks like they just used the new Gladius end cap though, which is a good sign.

Would also be nice to see if there's another hole on the other side, to put a charge port in.

I asked sales@SF if other apprentice sabers could be sent instead, and they confirmed that the current deal only applies to the Xiphos.

Unfortunately Yes. To quote h2soy, attaching images on the Forum reduces them to Potato quality. I did however receive a more accurate depiction from the Source in an email received this morning with some other information I'll Post in Otto's RRE Topic. Whilst on Promotional reference Pages it is Xiphos, internally with SF it is Gladius V1.
