Whatever this ends up being, I will participate, and enjoy doing so. Anything that comes of it beyond that is just gravy.

We porbably will do them all; this was to see basically what people wanted to do first. And it would be put up on a poll, and popular vote wins, like I said in the original post. When I don't post from my phone originally, I can actually make polls effectively and list entries; I do not anticipate these will be very large. Maybe 15 entries, if that, depending on participation.

That being said, I think the first one we'll do is an ASP mini-contest, so stay tuned, and I'll start that up soon. Then when I get a little time this week I'm doing some forum additions (few things in mind) so those will appear in the next few days, and yeah.

You could do a forum topic with a time limit (for instance a few weeks or a month) for people to post anything creative and saber/SW related. Then pick randomly at the end of the time period from anyone who contributed something of their own making. This could include any of the suggestions you mentioned above and let people put what they want out there.

For example:
- designing a saber (asp or otherwise)
- Original artwork
- writing a short fan fic
- making a video (spinning or whatever)

Rewarding those who try to enrich the community within drawing period without having to fear critique or loss and avoiding any hard feelings.

It's as you said it's not about winning its about adding to the community, driving up interest and activity, and being able to give something back.

One entry per person per time period. For something special maybe give those who put forth exceptional effort one an extra entry in the random drawing to insentivise while keeping it fair. If you get an amazing turnout don't be afraid to give everyone that went the extra mile an extra entry.
