TOPIC: The Force Awakens Anticipation (NO SPOILERS)

Hey guys!

We are less than 3 weeks away from the release of The Force Awakens (!!!) so I thought it'd be cool to have a thread to discuss the upcoming movie and how/when you guys are planning on seeing it, as well as how you guys are passing the time until that date!

No spoilers will be allowed here. If there's interest in a spoiler thread to discuss leaks and rumors maybe we can start one.

I'm one of the younger guys here, but I am beyond excited for this movie. As a kid, my favorite Star Wars movie was A New Hope and I never watched any of the older ones in until I was much older. It wasn't until this year that I realized the true beauty within Star Wars and I have now invested and am still investing a lot of time into the galaxy far, far away. It's just too awesome!

I'll be waiting on the bluray I don't trust any of the theaters around here

Probably won't see it until 3 weeks after or so. Therefore Into exile I must go.... in about 3 weeks.

I'm in no rush really. My first saber won't be coming in until around February/March and I'm still building my antihero black lightside jedi costume. Think Revan after Kotor ended. A jedi who is good but does not believe
that powers are inherently evil.

Now when episode 8 comes out, that's when the real fun begins. One of my buddies has a kickass Kylo Ren costume, my girlfriend has an awesome episode 2 Padme costume and a thing for Dark Jedi (Bite me prequel haterz Padme is bangin) , and a group of friends and cousins are going as jedi, sith, and Han Solo and his crew. There's about 8 of us total and we're already planning out our costumes and I even got some of them to order from SF.

The 2 closest to me have already said no costumes or sabers of any kind

I've got high hopes, and multiple viewings...
Midnight release with a good mate, dressing up as a Jedi.
Sat morn sesh with the Wife and other friends.
Following week night sesh with the family. It's gonna be a fun Christmas!

There's a Studio Movie & Grill near me that I put a lunch reservation in for the 21st of December. It's pretty cool; you reserve a seat and get to order food from your seat. It sounds weird but it's actually super convenient.

I don't what I'm gonna be doing on the 17th as I don't know if my wife has arranged anything for my birthday!
(Yes it's the same date as the release in th UK!)
I have a saber on order in the build queue so I'm now a bit short of funds as well!

Oh well I'll twiddle my thumbs and spend my time on the forum.

Yesterday a friend of mine told me he got 2 tickets to opening night so I'm a little stoked now. Hadn't planned on going opening night but screw it, I'm going now!

For those of you who are not seeing it on release weekend, why? Personally, the wait would kill me...

I bought tickets to see it in 3D (I regret this decision) on the 17th with my girlfriend. She actually had never seen Star Wars before we started dating. A couple weeks after we started dating we watched A New Hope, and she liked it. Then a couple weeks later, Empire. She liked that too. She asked me if we could marathon the other 4 this weekend which was awesome for me to hear so that's my plan! I'm really excited!

Who are you guys most excited for from the new SW cast? For me it's Daisy Ridley as Rey. Besides being the main character, Ridley is a perfect fit for Star Wars from what we've seen. Plus she seems like she's going to be a badass with her staff! Wait until we find out it's a staff saber (that's a joke, folks. It isn't a staff saber. No spoilers here, move along)

I'm really excited to see it but I'm still not sure where or when it will be. I have a big hang up about inconsiderate people on cell phones or shouting through the movie and we get that a lot here in the big nicer theaters so I typically skip out till a week or 2 later.

This is not a movie I want to wait on. So maybe I'll see it in one of our tiny rundown theaters that don't get many people then see it again in a week or 2 in the nice theatres.

No characters have really jumped out at me but Daisy Ridley's is starting to grow on me though. If she becomes a jedi than I'll be sold. (Even if she has that dumb Soccer ball droid following her around. I want to punt it so bad.) And I'm so happy that X-wings are back, best Starfighter ever.

I think we can kiss the fast paced lightsaber fights goodbye though. That last trailer had Finn hacking away at that trooper like he was swinging an axe.

I got advanced tickets for 7:30 on the 17th, and I could not be more excited.

I get that some might think this is some kind of Disney-ification of our beloved saga. But, I have been with this saga since the beginning, struggled a bit through the prequels, and wished for something more. Now that it has finally arrived, of course I am going to give it the benefit of the doubt, especially since, for the first time since 1983 we have a director other than George Lucas. That alone gives me hope that we might be in for something new, and unexpected. Of course, there will be recognizable elements, even 35 years hence, but that does not necessarily mean it will be predicable.

I feel like we will be in for something we have not felt in the SW universe in a long time.

I'm going with friends and the girlfriend on the release date in France, December 16th. 3D viewing (decision that I also regret) at 8.30 pm.

I'm putting off going straight away for a few reasons. The crowds, the hype, the mania. Just not my sort of thing.
Don't get me wrong, I really can't wait. I hit 40 next year so grew up with it all. Ep IV released when I was 1!
Still have my first saber, the inflatable torch thing from Kenner. And yes, it still has it's box...barely.

I booked a week's holiday in Valletta, Malta in January. Just me and my sweetheart. Turns out there's the embassy cinema a short walk down the road so hey! That's worked out perfectly. And Malta being predominantly English speaking country means we shouldn't have to worry about subtitles.

Might even have my Descent by then..(15 weeks in. Losing.. will.. to go.. onnn)..

I'm pumped for the new movie I'm gonna be seeing it the 20th with my dad and best friend. Until then I'll probably just be on the forum and get a marathon of the movies in there somewhere

Been pretty damn excited about this too and thus far avoided all spoilers save the preview trailer and the first two official trailers. I am only human!

As to passing time...working my way through jk2 jedi outcast ,prepping house for winter, Skyrim, d&d, house maintenance, and watching original dr.who episodes is helping fill in gaps.

Gotta kep this experience as fresh as possible!
